The useful compromise would be a modified buckle, with screw, not sew-in, 24mm and PVD to match the case. A couple of us have passed along to davidsen, the specs on the original buckle. So, I won't be surprised when he starts selling them to us.

This sounds good to me - I'd be in.

@Faber: this looks like a reasonable option for a 'moderate' group buy [also, more than 1 colour for those that don't want the Vintage dark Tan?].

I think the colour's more interesting than the brown on TC (more contrast to the PVD, looks closer to the gens I've seen pics of) - and maybe leave everyone to their own devices if they wish to spend $100+ incl. buckle for a special strap?

I like those alot--I'd be in on that. I noticed they have a color called aspen. Do you think it is the same material as a Louis Vuitton strap, meaning it will change color with age?

i think the color will ge a natural tan and burn to a dark color...actually i went ot a OF strap with a screw in pvd gpf buckle....one thing i was in mind that the most important part was the buckle...and it was no reason to put a anodized buckle on a piece of art...so i went for the real pvd buckle...and after that the strap i choose the one that most reminds me the dirks...

i guess i have choose the right combo...as fast i receive i will post pics...

in the end...i think the best is to find the strap that most go through your idea of vintage...and as this "collectors" piece...needs a different personality as each one will give with a different combo...

I think so... Choose a strap that suits you most. However, the buckle should be a nice PVD ones. It won't come cheap.

my idea is to find the right buckle...them we discuss price and each member would be up to choose color and length directly to the strapmaker...i think it would be the best for evryone

@Faber: That makes sense: (1) we are not all uniform as to size, (2) I think there's at least 3 colour prefs (I for one like both orange-tan and the light buff or butterscotch colour ), while some want brown, for e.g.

We can likely agree on a buckle? Pre-V PVD, I think, if we are trying to do the gen thing.

So key is get a 'maker who will do:

* 3 lengths (S, Reg,Long?)
* 3 colours
* 2 buckles - or 1 if that's too much hassle? [depends whether it's sewn or we can remove / replace later]

Any news on this strap thingy? The watches are delivered this week for the lucky team, so it's becoming urgent to find a strap to wear the baby proudly !!

I found a small custom strap maker in Paris, they probably could make panerai straps for cheap (61€) - crocodile, ostrich, lizard, teju, shark, karung, calf, hermeline....
but I would like to provide the sew in PVD buckle to complete the look of the strap - so my question is : is there a possibility to commission somewhere the logo buckle for cheaper than the price offered here and there?

Nope: scarlett ! Quality is excellent, a friend of mine as a custom one for his PAM080

But they are more on the modern strap side for the PAM, AFAIK...

ABP is much more expensive

the sewn in buckle seens to be the biggest problem...as know one is responding anymore and the pvd buckles that they have is an anodized...so it wont match the pvd...maybe the best by now is a screw in buckle...and wait if davidsen can make this buckle for us...
