So after 3 short months... My Asian Mvt GMT-II C ICHS is dead. I might take it to the jeweler and see if he can fix it but I gotta see how much it will cost...if its even worth repairing...it really sucks! That was my favorite watch. Bummer.

You realize the movement in that watch can be had for about $40?
You dont service them, you replace them.
If you decide you want to scrap it, let me know... I have a movement.

Where do you get the ETA clone movement with the GMT modification for $40? I've got a dead one too.

@ CARLS-

Id like to replace it; Where do I find a mvt for this and how easy is it to put the MVT in?

Thanks,

Ryan

The last one I bought was from AJoe Smith. I paid about $40 shipped to me in the US.
If the Asian ICHS is what you have now, it SHOULD be a direct swap.
Not too difficult if you have steady hands, the right tools and some patience.

IcedEarth817,
a miracle could happen...
unscrew the crown, then wind the watch, give it 20 turns

So I just happened to try and wind it up again and it didn't work... But I turn the watch upside down (face down) and it will run.. As soon as I turn it anyway but down it stops immediately... I'm gonna take it to my watchsmith and see if he can see what's up... Any ideas for what's wrong with it?

Maybe you could sell it to one of our Australian members? Upside down is upside-up down there. The watch should run perfectly!!

Sounds like something is amiss in the balance wheel area...

I am pleased to report an update!

So I took this beast down to this local mom and pop jeweler. Like I said before, this guy has been a watchsmith for almost 60 years so when I took it in he said he would find out whats wrong with it. Within 2 hours of dropping it off, he called me and said it was perfect and ready to go. After he took apart the movement piece by piece he noticed metal shavings in parts of the gears and that was the problem! Now it runs like a champ and it only cost me 30 bux for the repair!

Awesome.
