I can't believe this thread.
The members here who so strongly desire a really really shallow introduction (cuz that's what you're getting) ((you guys have no idea if the stuff in the intro is BS, yaw still think I am a dude from denmark, while I am really a transsexual lobster looking creature from frikking Melmac.....at least I could be, and it would explain my horrible typing too...))
now, if an introduction is sooooo important, we could look into having the software generate a 100% identical intro thread once a new account is activated....how does that sound....geesh. I am sure some members would feel much better, and the new member would now be permitted to join the mindless blabber we ALL take part in here.
What is annoying about noobs really is that they come here, and take over for the memebers who are getting "forum burn out", and gain new interesst, and potentially will be running this place in 3 years. umm, come to think of it, those arean't really bad things...
If we could just arm ourselves with a large sock, which we insert in our mouths, prior to doing the "extreme challenge" of clicking, and reading a "silly noob thread", then we might not piss off new members within their first 15 minnutes of their time here.
I had no clue what this place was when I joined, and in general, I had no idea about forums. -I kept clicking the same 3 links, and thinking to myself, "I wonder when my pc will crash" cuz I was afraid it was some wierd scam operation. honestly, I had those thoughts. call me stupid, but I had never been on a forum before.
I am totally opposed to the view, that noobs posting questions, which they could find themselves, are being annoying. I even saw noobs getting bashed for not searching, to which the noob replies " but I did search, but the search engine wouldn't let me search for a 3 letter word".
I hope the bashing members felt bad.
We all know that we get the occational asshat, who wont get it, even after being politely pointed in the right direction, and in those threads noone here are holding back from telling the member what the word asshat means. -I actualy think that these "called for noob bashing threads" are one of the reasons that soome members are so trigger happy with noobs. -the times when an asshat is flamed with good reason, after being a complete clown, makes some members get a feeling, of the community comming together, which is why they are looking to pick a fight.......a kind of home sickness. I miss my mom kindda way, can't we all just be tight friends, like a gang, now that I don't have anyone else to hug me.....
It should be about content. intro or not, doesn't matter.
If a thread has content, then help, guide, comment, judge. even if it's a silly question.
just don't be a smartass, because you disagree, don't like or already know. then just ignore, and accept that you wasted a click by opening the thread, without earning a post to your postcount.
The matter is, the less posts a member has, the MORE slack we should cut him/her.
If the member is repeating to be annoying, then it is a different matter, however, this happens really really rarely in reality.
