I'm a huge music fan:

The band that started it all for me:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/84ZrN8a3RVw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/84ZrN8a3RVw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

When you are a kid you aren't exposed to much more than what is on MTV and Modern Rock radio, and Pearl Jam was the coolest band around. The "indiest" household name rock group ever. I have been to 37 Pearl Jam shows since 1998.

Sorry can't post just one:

Ben Harper (if for some strange reason you don't know this guy you should)

I take "Artist" to mean something beyond the "hey man, that's my favorite band" sort of thing.

The answer is FRANK ZAPPA

Choosing one is difficult but if I could only take one artist/band with me to a deserted island I would take Credence Clearwater Revival. Close second would be the Allman Brothers.

Dawg, you are the man. I haven't seen a video of CCR in a long time. Brings back a lot fond memories. Sadly, I used to have a hair cut just like John.
