The Exorcist is STILL the scariest horror movie of all time. If you watch it on a big screen with good sound, in a darkened room, you will be horrified. That movie does not entertain you, it horrifies and scares you like no other. ............ if you watch it alone, you must have 3 balls or drunk. Very drunk.

I won't watch it alone, and my wife refuses to watch it with me.
Late at night, the best I can do is watch for a few minutes and then change the channel.

The most scary have been The Exorcist and Suspiria (Dario Argento).
I liked The ring as well, A nightmare on Elm Street, Texas chainsaw massacre, Halloween (the first two were SCARY lol)... and how come nobody mentioned Jason Vorhees yet? Friday the 13th is such a classic! :)

Also I'm impressed so many liked Event Horizon, I thought I was one of the very few who liked it :)

Suspiria scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. They all did, but something about that one really put the spook into me...

I'm not really a fan of the horror genre. I did however really enjoy 'my little eye'. I loved it's take
on our hunger for fame and out voyeristic nature. I also liked 'the Blair witch project'. I will add films
when they come to them.

The Blair Witch was a huge hit, but a bit underrated as a scary film. They did some thing's very well - not the least of which, they never showed "the monster." It's always better to let the viewer fill in the blank when it comes to horror.

The first horror movie I saw as a kid of about 12yrs was the Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee film Dracula.

I think it was made in 1958 and I saw it in the early 60's. I've watched many horror films since but the Dracula has always been my favourite.

Christopher Lee was by far the scariest Dracula of them all.
