My 2 month old noob 216570 black face explorer ii just froze up on me a few days ago—just doesn’t want to keep ticking away. I couldn’t find any info regarding replacing the movement on these watches so was hoping to get some input from more experienced people. I would really like to keep it CHS, but if the CHS movement is really that unreliable, then i’d Consider ichs.

Thanks in advnace!

The CHS movement really is that unreliable and there are no sources for parts or replacement movements. AFAIK the ICHS movement cannot just be swapped in, they are different ETA base movements. CHS is a 2824, ICHS is 2836. They have a different stem height. Also at least the GMT and hour hands would need to be sourced as they have different hole sizes due to pinion placement. I should probably buy a CHS and figure out if a swap like this could be done with some modding. I work on movements, GMTs being my main interest. There are increasingly more members getting pushed into this same corner. Sorry bro.

I have four CHS movements. Two are dead and two are on the way out. I have two Breitling avenger GMTs which work flawlessly. I just don’t get it...

Too bad there is still no remedy to the grenade issue. I always wanted explorer II white dial. Hopefully the super clone wagon stops and picks up this GMT movement.... this is the same movement as GMT master right?

That sucks. Appreciate the insight. The watch has grown to be my favorite daily piece.

Did you set-up the GMT function correctly when you first use the watch? If not, you might have broken the movement.

I wasn’t aware of a correct way to do it, just did it as you would a gen. With that said, it did work flawlessly for 2 months as my daily.
