This looks way more like "E X PLOR E R" than "E XPLORER" to me...

Really. I think it's ultra-obvious.
Have you worn this watch? Yes the printing is not 100% correct but you have to look real hard to even notice it. No one in the world has good enough eyes to see this without having the watch in hand held up to face.

Of course, on the wrist it's hard to tell if you're not looking straight at it, but even there if someone says "nice watch, lemme see your watch" he would instant notice if he knows Rolex...

I respectfully disagree...
Instant tell? Not unless the person in question has 20/20 vision, is a member of RWI, actually cares, caries a loupe, and you give him the watch for minutes.
People in the real world don't know this stuff, and they don't care. As visually good as these comparison threads are they breed minutiae paranoia in rep owners.

I read on another thread the history behind the whole E X PLORER thing and learned that an older generation of the genuine article had this "mistake" as well.

If you collide with an AD or Rolex nerd wearing the EXPLORER at the next social event, then maybe that person will notice what's going on. 99.99999% of the population, however, wouldn't think anything of it. I know if I saw it and I weren't on these forums, I would think that's just the way it was supposed to look. Assuming I picked up on it in the first place. (Just my opinion as a regular guy and not a real aficionado).

So unless you're one of those dudes on Instagram flashing his replica watch in front of a Mercedes Benz steering wheel -- just the wheel, there's probably no car attached -- or unless you take your watch off your wrist hand your E X PLORER to a dandy with a monocle and a Rolex fetish at the next wine tasting, you likely won't get pantsed and wedgied in public.

Yes. You actually right about people's awareness of E XPLORE R. However, as we are in this forum, most of us seeking for perfection. Everything about JF V2 is perfect but when it comes to purchase, you can't take out of your mind this issue. Because it is easy to fix. Smallest and easiest correction that can be done on a rep. You think why not wait a little time and order the true perfect watch.

Because there will never be a perfect watch... with every version they fix one thing and f'up another. Every, single, time!
If you like this watch, buy it now before these are gone. I regret selling mine

I've got one of theses and it's a stunner, feels and looks so 'right' and super discrete and classy, planning a big clear out of my reps as I head genwards but this is staying [emoji6]

Is a wonderful watch, and a stunning rep! Is my beater from 1 month and is perfect.
Is the only one I can use with my TC. I love both.

As previously mentioned the 'explorer' spacing, etc is obvious. You don't need a magnifying glass or a loupe. It's visible at arm's length. I ordered one for a friend and we compared to another friends gen. So yes I've seen it in the flesh. Don't get me wrong it's a brilliant rep, almost super rep worthy. But with things like this you need to nail the visuals, dimensions, etc very few care about the movement and what not. We are not expecting the factories to turn into Swiss watchmakers. Technology has moved forward and the cost reflects that, I can't remember the last time I picked up a rep under $300/350.

So no, my money will be staying in my pocket until they sort the spacing and font out.

I would like your opinion on this pics, they have the correct EXPLORER font?

Humour me and go on Instagram. Have a search through #RolexExplorer hashtag. You will spot the gen from reps an absolute mile off, purely from the explorer lettering. I'm more than aware that Rolex produced some rather iffy ones with suspect lettering, they don't anymore.

^^ I'm with this guy. Strange as it seems to some, the spacing on the letters jumps off the dial at me in a loud and bad way. I'm a designer and work a lot with type - I can't unsee it, and could never get it until its fixed.

I hate crap type - its the one reason I can't buy a Damasko - because the crap kerning on their logo would stab me in the eyes everytime I looked at it.

I respectfully disagree with you disagreement.

Everybody you will meet will say "oh you have a Rolex ? It's a nice watch, may I see it ?", it's the most scrutinized brand. Risk is 1000x higher than any other brand.

Anyone who would look at it without a loupe or anything will have a small thought like : "Is this a real one ?" or "if this is a real one, it must be perfect" or even "this is a real one for sure I'll see how the details are perfect"...

Even someone that is not trained and don't know the particular model but loves watches will look at it carefuly and see the issue. Most of my friends love watches and they are no expert, and I can guarantee you they would all spot this withing a minute.

I would never wear a watch with such an issue, but that's just my opinion.

Again, I think this is ULTRA OBVIOUS TELL that will jump to anyone's eye except someone that absolutely have no idea about watches at all.

I completely agree with this.

Didn't understand first part of the answer, but the second is enough for me:

I'm more than aware that Rolex produced some rather iffy ones with suspect lettering, they don't anymore.

For me is enough: a gen exist in this way. Is like the variance of the dial in the submariner. So, is really not a problem.

I know rolexs are scrutinized more than other brands, I understand that. But here's an idea, if someone says is that a Rolex, can I see it? Raise your arm and show them lol, don't take it off and hand it to them, Who does that?

Anyway, have you actually held this rep in your hand or worn it on your wrist? If you put this watch on and look at it like you are checking the time you won't notice the spacing.

And if someone did notice you can tell them that there was a batch of these which had this printing, it's true there were early gens with the kerning issue.

honestly man, I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you are that anal about this tiny little thing then maybe this rep ain't for you.
