I have the Clean 39 and also had the chance to hold a gen 39 in store (not at the same time of course)

the CF is mindblowingly good. There is no miss. The only very small missing element is the yellowish sheen that are on the gen white gold hands. But even that is not visible in normal light conditions.

I own a 36 and it is so great!
No more doubts, no more flaws, no more things you want to improve, no more the constant confrontation of the fact that you’re wearing a fake watch. It’s just perfect and it feels that way.

I couldn’t be more satisfied than with this one.

I think the colour of the hands isn’t noticeable. When you’re with someone who’s wearing a Swiss watch it might become clear that the lume isn’t as powerful as it should be which I don’t really mind but might me the most noticeable thing that it isn’t real.

yeah, unless you are holding a watch close up for inspection, I don't think anybody can identify the watch hands is steel or white gold

Agree, I prefer the word Explorer at the bottom as well. Also, the 36mm is very small, I don't want my sports watch to be smaller than my more elegant office watch on leather.

One thing I have been trying to understand is how well they replicated the matte dial. I saw they got the crystal on point tho, it is without anti-reflection and looks like gen

Yes, design wise I this this is correct.

The top three lines would list the crown, Rolex, and OP while the bottom would also have three lines, Explorer, superlative, official.

I wonder if they ever played around with this or if Rolex wants to keep it faithful to the 1016.

I now have the 36mm and 39mm Explorer by Clean. I've had my eye out for a good deal on a gen, but can't bring myself to pull the trigger since it's barely an upgrade. ~$5k for a watch that side by side looks nearly identical to the rep is a hard sell. These should be on the NWBIG list, they're really that good.

I think I'm going to have to put the money toward something that doesn't have a nearly perfect gen out there...but it seems that many of the realistically affordable Rolex gens have fantastic reps as an option; and the ones that don't start getting into "nice used Corvette" territory, lol.

The only Gen I am considering today is the Speedmaster white dial once the hype dies

I have the same feeling : a rep such as the Clean Explorer (and even the AirKing I just tested) are so well repped and feel so gen that I can't picture myself walking at an AD to get one today. Don't spend Ks on these, there are many other brands and genuine models to get today.

You and me both, that white dial is superb in person. I thought it was just going to be as impactive as any other white dial but this one really pops. It's ace

Don't know how is the current situation. I am looking at qc photos and in the last 2 weeks the steel_inox clasps are used again (were known for bracelet issues with endlinks). In last 2 months there were only correct ones on the qc photos (also no broken bracelet reports)...just my observation

There is only one thing that makes you realising it isn’t a Swiss watch and that is it isn’t running that accurate. It is not only that you have to correct it now and then but also that you don’t have the exact time and therefore I sometimes check my phone on which we always have it 100% correct with us.
A more accurate movement would make it perfect!

And if one day a rep with date would be made that is as good as this Explorer then I would buy it too because I notice that for me the date is quite important too.

So although it is so good there are still reasons to dream about a genuine Rolex after all.

It is not only that you have to correct it now and then but also that you don’t have the exact time and therefore I sometimes check my phone on which we always have it 100% correct with us.

Mines running okay at the moment but I suppose that comes down to your rotation etc. I know what you mean though!

You do realize that a gen is never going to run perfectly and keep perfect time, even if it's straight out of a fresh service.

The best mechanical watches generally gain or lose a few seconds a day, depending on temperature, position, and how you wear them. Most of my reps are comparable in accuracy to my gens. To be honest, most of my low end watches are, too.

Timex or Rolex, expect to be a few seconds off of the atomic clock at the end of a typical day.
