If you would have read what tripdog said, yours is not the only package that has had this exact same issue. All of the packages that are having this issue are going through the same transshipment warehouse. It's nothing to do with FedEx, so having them weigh the package before they hand it to you wouldn't have done anything because the loss occurred before it was in their possession, so it would have weighed the same as when they first received it. I agree it's not sustainable for them to replace multiple losses. That being said this is the transhipment center that they are using even though there's apparently a ongoing trend of issues.

Can anyone confirm how internal dealer shipping processes work? In the USA it would be:

1.) One guy that ships packages off at the local "UPS" store? The store weighs, labels and hands a receipt over before the person leaves.
2.) One guy delivers 100 packages to a facility, they weigh and label each package and charge to a corporate account?

It could be combo of the above depending on the dealer.

You should have either opened the parcel in front of the driver or refused delivery. If can see (as in your pics) that the parcel has been tampered with do not accept it.
This is easier said than done.
Especially in bigger cities, the DHL guys are under massive time pressure and don't have time to wait until you opened a package in front of them.
Sometimes, they even just drop the package in the house floor and leave. So no time to refusing the package.

it’s pretty much unheard of here to open a package in front of a carrier. They do drop off the package and leave and here USPS just puts it in your mailbox

That is 100% correct. I worked at Fedex Logistics and no driver will be expected to wait for a box to be opened since they have a large workload.

I've never had the delivery guy wait for me to collect it, much less open it. it's drop and run here. With any of the shipping companies.

I think that’s standard overall. Going to have to contact the dealer immediately if you’re a victim of theft.

I read this a lot at the moment - shipments to European customers via DHL Germany, that arrive empty. Does not seem to be isolated events any longer. They also seem to get smarter - they started to replace the watches now with cheap items like nails so that there is no significant difference in weight.

I have currently 2 watches in the mail (one from Steve), and one on preorder, and they both will go through DHL Germany - so I am a bit worried.

Also, here in Austria chances are pretty low, that you can actually check the delivery before acceptance. Either the parcel will end up in some self-service pickup point, or there are delivery boxes installed onsite of your premises, or they deliver to one of the neighbours that happen to be at home. I try to re-direct valuables to the next post office, so that I can pick them up there, but like with an 80% chance they will ignore that and still deliver wherever they want (just yesterday I found two parcels deposited in front of my apartment door even though I re-directed them to the local post office for pickup on Monday).
