Outstanding Enzo!! This provided a very clear discussion of the realities of rep movement manufacturing and also provides a starting point for making our expectations of rep watch movements also more in tune with reality. I would guess that the best way to insure that you are getting what you pay for is to still "buy the sellar", otherwise we have to take each movement one at a time and learn through these boards and by personal experience.

How does a laser etched marking differ from a stamped marking? How do you tell the difference?

Enzo - great effort, mate!

As you said, not sure how many times we wrote about the very same topic in the past and how many times in the future we'll do the same, but that's the nature of our non-deterministic hobby...and while good majority couldn't care less about type and quality of a motor running inside their reps, there's still a group of us 'rep purists' that will go extra mile in ensuring the 'engine' is the best one available at the time and as closest to the "real" thing as possible. :)

cheers and thanks,
