Who cares that there are after market parts in a 40 year old movement?

Sean K

Maybe the guy that paid 2300 for it ??

i wouldn't hold my breath trying to find one but if you do it is going to cost you much more than 2,300.00. now that rolex has taken their latest price increase it will be even more difficult to buy one for a decent price. my new gmt2c just went from 5,950.00 to 7,100.00 and it is a ss watch. the precious metal rolex's took an even higher price increase. when that happened all rolex watches no matter how old just increased in price.

i wish you well in your search and i hope you find what you are looking for.

i own three gen rolexes so i know what you are saying
i just think it is easier to assume things when you are not the one paying

So, let me get this straight. You create this thread when you weren't getting any resolution to your problem. The staff does their job and reaches out to JoJo and tries to investigate the issue. Now that you have your resolution and people are starting to disagree with your position, you want this thread to go away. Is that about right?

I see no reason to lock this thread. There have been no personal attacks that I've read. Quite frankly, there is some very valuable discussion going on here that would benefit the forum to read. What to expect from 40 year old movements that are no longer supported by the manufacturer, for example. I had no idea that Rolex had stopped making parts for these movements and would no longer repair them if the parts weren't available. Did you?

Perhaps I'm the only one who has learned something from the discussion here? It's possible, I suppose.

I'm trying not to be pissy about this, but please don't try to tell the staff how to do our job. If one of use views this thread as lock-worthy, we'll discuss it and take the appropriate (in our eyes) actions. Thanks.

Re: Moonlight sonata...

I agree with you all the way through until JoJo finally chimed in and cleared up the misunderstanding. You are lucky that he is being such a decent guy about it, because there was absolutely nothing about his sales thread that was misleading. You got exactly what you paid for.I agree Hooligan, there was a lot of very good information that came from this thread. Changing the title because you can not get it locked on command looks pretty chickens h i t. Good luck to you.

Same sentiment here...I am not sure I would have done what jojo did if I am the seller here...

Re: Moonlight sonata...

as long as seller is in control

and wishes to perform any action

then buyer cannot complain..

when there is not a meeting of the minds

nothing makes any sense except to quit the field

and go back to the beginning, before any deal was reached

right or wrong is all between seller and buyer...

all else is bool sheeite words.. imo..

no fence or off ence to all..

I could not agree more, publicly accusing someone of scamming before all the facts are in and then changing the title from "Was I Scammed" to "Moonlight Sonata" is chicken s h i t indeed. It is like I said previously, we protect are members, but keep that in mind before rallying everyone to a sob story when the other side has not had the benefit to defend himself.

Did i get scammed???

Just a last post from me here..
For those that fight with me in the latest posts i want to say that it is very easy to speak when you are not the one paying
For 2300 I would expect to get exactly what I paid for, a perfect franken with an 100% gen mvt
I am lucky jojo is smarter than some of you and realized that
That makes him an amazing and honest guy

Thanks for your help, especially the two or three guys that were in touch with me via PM and helped me so much
Also, thank you rbj for your significant help
have a nice day

going through the whole post again, i got very upset and offended with some of the posts here...
well this is life i guess
I HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THE WATCH JUST BECUSE I DON'T WANT TO FEEL LIKE A STUPID BUYER
This forum means a lot to me, and i won't destroy my hobby for a stupid watch
At the end it is beautiful, was very well described and I don't want JoJo to have to refund 2300 that might have already invested somewhere else
I will close the paypal dispute right now

that's it

game over

No one is arguing with you about this situation. This is what happens when you use an open forum for resolving your problems. You are asking for everyones input and opinions. When this all began, and JoJo had not yet chimed in, I am sure you were just thrilled with everyones comments. After both sides of the story were presented and some expert opinions, the opinions changed and it was not all in your favor. This is what you, or anyone else, must be prepared for when you choose this avenue for help. Once a thread like this is started you must let the chips fall where they may.
