Hi,

Saw this advertisement... dealer proudly proclaiming 'Genuine Swiss Valjoux 7750'. NOT! The V770 would never allow the configuration of sub dials in this watch, and the display back clearly shows an HW column wheel movement, probably a Seagull copy of the Vj 72, which is reason enough to buy the watch, as it's a jewel of a movement.

Which is the reason why he hasn't just made a mistake with the picture.

He also says it's 44mm..... I ain't never seen one that size, correct size is a more discrete 39mm.

It's easy to see how some buyers can be sucked in!

The movement would have to be heavily modified (therefore ruining its reliability) but it's certainly possible. My Blackbird has a similar A7750 with big date movement.

Edit: just looked at the actual movement pic. Hell no, it's not a 7750!

So, why on earth would you want to buy from that typical scam rep site anyway? The whole site reeks of scam.

You think a "swiss" Rolex DJ with an ETA 2836 for $860 is a scam? Nah....Probably made right there is geneva.

But does it come in a cardboard box with "100% SWIZZ" written on the outside? That's how you know it's a good rep...

It's not the big date movement that causes the problem, that's a simple, and frequent mod. 7750 subdials are ar 12, 6, and 9. This watch has them at 4 and eight, which can't be done with a 7750, or a 2894 et al, which are all auto anyway.

If its not a trusted dealer then why even look at the site? There's no reason to. There's a 99% chance that its a scam site. So why bother? We use our dealers because you know what you are getting with them. Don't even loom at other sites. No need to

Easy answer. I googled the watch/movement, and then images. This one was one of the images.

Now, twice on this thread I've been chastised for looking at non trusted dealer sites. I didn't choose to, I was drawn by the image. When, and where I look at sites, is entirely my business. I'm a 60 year plus pensioner, with a mind of my own, and I really object to being chastised like a child. What gives you the right to do so?? Mind your own bloody business!!

Then YOU are upset at us to tell you not to browse that website! The members of this forum look after the community, and do our best to keep new guys from buying from sites like the one you linked to. That is why we have a TRUSTED DEALER PAGE

So be our guest, your a grown man as you pointed out: Peruse, buy from and send your money to that site. Just keep the crap out of here...

If a scam site said OrIGinaL Rolllox MOOVment from Sweezerland I wouldn't believe it in the same way I don't believe anything on a scam site. So the dealer has not got it wrong, a scam site is supposed to be filled wit misinformation and crap

I can't actually remember at any time saying that I wanted to, intended to, or even considered buying from that site, not once, not ever!! Check your facts and read my posts properly!

I pointed out that I found it by following a link to the picture. You don't actually get a link to the site. I did it without knowing!! Now, all you 'experts', knowing what it was, ie, a scam site, because I had told you it was, clicked on the link to peruse the picture, much as I had done, but you all had the bonus of knowing where you were going!! Pot calling the kettle black??

Now, in a sense, I was able to inform other members, including the one who thought it could have been a 7750, when anybody who knows anything about genuine Swiss chronograph movements, would know immediately with one glance that it wasn't, and that it was a definite scam. Isn't what this forum is for?? Just think a minute - how to you get to know the TD's?? By learning from long experience, which ones to trust, and which ones not to trust, and how did this happen?? C'mon, get real. Certainly no harm was done. Most, if not all browsers these days warn you not to open a page if it might contain a virus or malware. I have such a browser, equipped with state of the art protection, and I would have been warned. Do you honestly believe, for a single minute, that I would have posted a lin to that site if I thought it would be infected??

As I said, I'm old, and certainly ugly enough to go where and when I like, without being chastized publicly. If anybody has an issue with me, fine, but let's address it like adults via PM, instead of trying to score points off me on an open forum.

I fail to see why OP is mad... "Dealer has really got this wrong!!" tells me OP have no clue as to whether that site is ok or not. Then he's mad because people tell the truth and wonder why he posted in the first place... 60 year old and still haven't learned to do his homework like the rest of us have....

Homework as in - study, read threads, learn the business and stay away from scam sites. No need to even start threads about them. We have our TD's. Period.
