I won't throw fuel into the fire but if all TDs suddenly disappeared the replica world would be far worse not better.

TDs upcharge a reasonable amount considering the sheer amount of BS and RLing they go through... reading the review threads shows you a bit of what they endure everyday.... we only think it's expensive because we have a baseline but 10 years ago the replica was vastly different...

The difference is I think the honesty or dishonesty aspect. We all know TDs upcharge, but they (most of the time) are honest about their product, where it seems this dial seller JJ, we cannot get a clear reading on where his product comes from.

There's a difference between intentional misleading and upcharging. I don't think anyone would be mad if he says he got his dials from China but installs the markers and does QC himself and/or does the refinishing himself, but I think the difference is he is promoting himself to make the dials himself, vastly different to let's say a guy like Oascam, who we see his updates on dial making....
I’ve never once read, heard, or been led to believe by JJ that he makes the dials himself. I asked him directly awhile ago.

Same. And as I said earlier. The dials are handmade. Not in EU, but by tiny children hands somewhere east lol just kidding

It looks spectacular in person, but you know Aventurine pics never do the material justice.
Exactly, no video or pic will show how great they look.

Many people were really surprised once they had watches in hand.

Here are some of the renders we did together before I finally decided which one I want. But I didn't like the subdial print, so the designer fixed that before production started.

Yes I can see Subdials has been changed slightly. I know manufacturer
Yea, I worked on that with JJ. the way the numbers were bent wasn't correct. So we had a few renders and variations until the correct bent was figured out that looked good.

More "gen like" know what I mean

Let me know if you need any

Yea but those are the cheap ones.
I can get you those for around 200€.

You can see the main plate sticking out under the thin stone plate.
Mine is so thick (that's what she said) we have to pinch the tubes on the clean hands because the tubes were too short.

With all due respect, and I mean that, this doesn’t make sense. I love RWI, the community here, and I do appreciate what the staff does especially in the RWI m2m sales sections. I was an admin of a large forum once and I know what it’s like to volunteer my time.

But to say RWI protects its members from being ripped off from being sold overpriced products? Thats exactly what TDs do lol. I deal with non TDs exclusively and I have it on record that his profits on a BTF/CF Daytona are well over $100 USD and that’s with him selling them to me at $535-$550. TDS sell the EXACT same watches for $775-$850. The new “ARF” (RAF” 5 digit Subs are around $475 from TDs (last I checked) and about $350-$375 from my on TD.

I get that TDs offer after sales support (or they’re supposed to) and go through a rigorous vetting process. Granted, I’m just one guy, but my dealer has offered me great after sales support when I got a SOA watch. And I’m sure there are many others that can attest to similar service. But take that with a grain of salt.

And I think noobs should buy from TDs for the peace of mind.

But the point is, TDs sell overpriced watches…
Agreed, I just bought a btf Daytona with black dial from a non TD, it cost me $545 to ship direct to UK. Same watch from a TD I have bought 2 watches in the past, over $700 to deliver to me.
Both the same damn watch. But the chances of things going wrong with a non TD is higher than with a TD.
So when I was new to the rep game, I paid £650 for a clean panda Daytona from a TD with the deep xtal swap. But I knew I’d get the watch.
The btf Daytona, as cheap as it was, got it 2 days ago after about 2 weeks of waiting. Comms with the non TD wasn’t great compared to my TD. QC pics were sent after a few days of asking and then tracking info I had to chase. Whereas with my TD, I didn’t even have to ask for QC pics or tracking info, it was given to me in the time frame stated.

But agreed as a newbie to the rep scene. I’d advise to go with a TD to be safe.
