Yeap that clean dial is really very close even the matte finish colour is good. The red is way better than the noob racing dial, I had one and did side by side shots and it wasn’t good.
Biggest tell on the rep is obviously weight but you are not going be giving someone the watch to hold. So for most the biggest tell is colour. Steel reps are too cold and blue as white gold is soft and has yellowish hue. But get yourself a plated version and you have a fine rep.
Yeah, never have I ever had someone else hold my watches, gen or rep lol. That would be a weird thing to ask.
The gens are too expensive (I’m not a big baller with Daytona gens, mine are all under 10k XD) to trust a friend who might not be able to afford repairs when they drop it 3 seconds after you let them hold it anyways.
I’m actually really impressed with the bracelet quality on this one, it feels really nice. It squeaks and all that because it’s a rep and isn’t oiled properly, but besides that it’s honestly solid. The finish isn’t nearly as good as yours of course.
And yeah regarding plating, I’m still deciding if I want it done or not, I have another WG Daytona I’d want to get plated as well if I went that route.
Overall I’d say the Daytona reps still lack that smoothness you see on the corners of your case, and the end of the sels. It impacts the overall “shape” quite heavily. That’s a Daytona hallmark IMO, and I haven’t seen a rep be able to replicate it, which isn’t surprising, the gen Daytona is hand finished as far as I know. You can see the edges on mine kinda just drop off, yours is like a soft/smooth rounding. Makes such a difference IMO.
