Here are the differences in MK1 & MK2 gen dials

1. Hourmakers, slim vs fat
2. Serif text vs non serif
3. Swiss made placement
4. 3 o’clock subdial

Found a strap for you :)

thanks bro i got one as well :) bought it off ebay $60shipped.. it's a shade bolder/darker than the actual beach dial.. i should've just gotten the original strap i had on it. Even had the Rolex stampings which the ebay crafter from Italy did not.

going to save your link in case i need to replace the strap again in the future (dear self, stop swimming in the ocean with your reps lol)

i did look at it.. and i actually thought, "wow.. this is a really great looking bracelet. even has the correct stamps and everything." then i saw the price, i was like "ok they want a good price for the quality"

....then it hit me, it might be gen since i saw some on ebay as well

BTW there's an interesting listing on ebay of a gen beachtona strap.. same turqoise color etc but i found it incredibly interesting because it exhibited the same "symptoms" my strap had that drove me nuts albeit much further down the road so to speak

the turqoise has almost completely faded from it :) yet it was a genuine bracelet..

so long as we find a decent MK I or MK II dial ill probably pull the trigger and start my build... now can you kindly tell me if the case from a 11 series VSF panda is the same as the beach daytona minus the obvious ceramic bezel? Would be nice if I can just use my vsf case as the base.

Totally agree, that’s the main component

‘’Yes, a current 11 series white GOLD reference can be used as a base. So 116509 or 116519

in my case ill be using a SS panda as base....unfortunately im skipping the WG plating/cnc case sourcing due to concerns of the plate tarnishing/cost of real WG case... your thoughts? can WG plating on SS be reversed back to SS color?

The problem with using the SS daytona, is that the case shape and bezel will be completely wrong. So it would proberbly be smarter stating with a CF 116509/19

If you really wanted be a stickler for period correctness case construction you would need the old style case construction of the way the end links are retained by the bezel itself.

I think the old Noob cases did this correctly? But none of the current factories do it this way AFAIK.

If you're after a bracelet or strap build.

This is a 116509 vs 116519 case. Note the difference in lug hole placement.
