That looks like a metal bar that the hand was laser cut out of.

What is this tool used for?

Hand is cut out of sheet metal. This tool is used to hold the hand and give it a support for all the beveling and other work.

I saw the other tool that was shaped like the hand. This one I was confused about because it doesn't look like you could reach all the edges....

Do you super glue it to the tool? Just wondering about your method.... I have a similar thing to do soon.
