I’m totally new to this. Haven’t even become a paid member yet. Do I have to become a paid member to participate here or get mod assistance in the event I need help with a TD purchase? And when you go to the TD section, most are identities with the red box NEW. Does that mean they are relatively new TDs as opposed to ones with long track record?
Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

That's right. If he agreed to send QC pics, he will.
Hey there. I’ve just bought my first rep. I paid without first asking to be sent QC pics. I assumed you get sent QC pics in every transaction? Is this something to be worried about?

If you buy a watch that the TD has to source for you, you always get your QC images AFTER you paid, never BEFORE.

There are rare instances with watches already being physically in stock (at the TD's office / premises) where it's possible to see images before payment, but that's definitely not the norm. 98% of the time, it's money first, QC later...

Also, please do me a favor and do what @TESLA760 recommended: Read our resources. They have all the relevant information regarding TDs...

Hello and WELCOME from the official RWI reception desk!

You are receiving this introduction because you either posted in the "new members say hi" section or —for the first time(s)— elsewhere. In the latter case, consider introducing yourself in the aforementioned section.

If you haven't already, please make sure to read all relevant sticky threads. They contain important and essential information such as the forum rules! Most importantly the sales rules, because you will NOT yet be eligible / allowed to sell unless you meet certain criteria / are certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Please also take another look at this important sticky that you should already have seen after logging on for the first time:

This quick anti-fraud guide is essential if you are about to order from a dealer for the first time:

If you need any further assistance, feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We will gladly help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

Thanks for your kind reply. I did read as much as I could but I can always learn more.

On Noob’s guide, point #6 confused me and a detail that I had missed. #6 stated to negotiate receiving QC pics before making a payment. However, based on your kind answer, I’m under the impression that it is more common nowadays that TDs automatically send you QC pics in every transaction.

The resources in this group has been invaluable. For fear of sounding too patronizing, I will stop now and just say tysm.

I had this doubt myself because from reading the foruns I perceived that we pay when we order, and then we get QC photos and Shipping info, but then this guide stated that we only pay after QC Photos, this is NOT the practice nowadays.

Ah, yes. I see.

It's important to always check the date of a post. We never delete old (and often outdated) stuff, in order to archive it. However, there's no cut-off date as to what is considered "in the archives", in other words: You should make that assessment yourself based on common sense and good judgment. If a post is about TD policies and is almost 20 years old, there's enough reason to believe the information may be outdated. 😄 If unsure, one should do exactly what you did: ask the community.

You may get the occasional grumpy oldtimer in your replies, but please don't get offended or scared. The veteran members have seen their fair share of absolutely lazy newbies that have zero motivation to read anything and just want to be spoon-fed, so they may bark at you a bit prematurely. 😆 Don't take it personally... 😉

Hey, I'm a noob and just joined—there's a lot of info to take in! From what I’ve gathered, most dealers want payment first, and some, like TheOneWatches and Geektime, take a $50 deposit before doing QC. My main concern is about ordering from the website, as you advised against it. I finalized a watch with Andiot TD, but the only way to order is through their website. Any advice?

That's fine, he requests that you confirm your order on the website so you get a Order Number #, instructions on how to pay etc...
Just make the purchase and then send him the proof of payment via whatsapp and Email.

Some good solid info. I'm going to have to be patient, having recently placed my first order. Not my strongest point, but I'll learn.

I'm pretty new here and was having the hardest time finding a tool to QC the alignment, as some of the links were dead.
I found two and will post them here so that other noobs can find them.

Hope it helps!
Happy watching ;)
