A UV lamp (or laser) could be used for this purpose as well. Would shorten the exposure time quite a lot, but with laser one would need to be careful so as to not overdo the effect.

The UV lamp is a great idea bro. I checked on amazon and most are only around $15-$20 (see 1st link below). The only issue I see is most of the UV Lamps come with halogen based UV bulbs that put out a lot of heat. And to get high UV radiation, you need to get the bulb within 2 or 3 inches of the dial (UV radiation from these bulbs dissipates quickly). This is likely going to heat up the watch a great deal...which I suspect will not be good for the internal lubricants and rubber seals of the watch. They do make an LED based UV bulb that does not get hot (see 2nd link below). For anyone adventurous enough to try this experiment, I would swap in the LED bulb. I'd also cover the bezel with opaque tape so you don't fade the bezel markings! And make sure you keep the watch wound so you don't create any shadows on the dial from static hands!

What about the Lume on markers? If you put a uv lamp do they start to lose? Or shorten the life time of them? Becouse if they do .. in order to make the dial warmer you will destroy the markers…

That is a good question. I've read that modern strontium aluminate based lume (like super luminova and chromalight) is unaffected by how many times it's charged (with light) and discharged (by glowing). So I don't think a few weeks under a UV bulb will have any noticeable effect on lume performance. However, the binding agents that turn lume powder into a paste (so that the lume can then be applied to dial markers and hands) could be affected and start to darken or turn yellow. Having said that, I have a gen 2002 16710 with super luminova that still looks and performs great. I see no noticeable yellowing and it still holds a charge really well...and it's seen a lot of wrist time (and sun) over the 20 years. Although I'm sure Rolex has spent a lot of time and energy researching and sourcing the best binding agents that do not easily breakdown and turn yellow. I'd be surprised if the rep factories spent more than 10 seconds on the topic!

My watch arrived. I'm delighted. However this is my first Daytona. I'd love to hear what people think. I guess people will know which version this is from which factory just by the images... I very much look forward to hearing people's views and comments. Thanks all

too much recess of the SEL to the lugs in my opinion. an immediate tell if one knows where to look at.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but is the subdial thickness of the CF black dial as per gen? I seem to recall it being a touch too thick but may have missed the post about an updated dial. Thanks.

Correct, subdials on the black dial are a little too thick and I don't believe they have corrected it yet. Panda subdials are correct thickness, but the dial only comes in tiffany blue:p

CF Panda dial definitely has a blue hue to it. The gen has a warmer tone white dial.
