It’s not a question if Deep is better, it’s which is correct to gen. I’ve had Clean V1-V3 in both white and black, and this new Clean crystal is clearer, colorless, with smoother angled reflections. So Clean crystal is more accurate here.

I have not had a Deep, but I have had two Noobs with Prof 2x AR on white and black ARF dials and they were stunningly beautiful, as if no crystal at all, and almost no reflection. But I quickly realized it was far from gen — AR was too noticeable, and rainbow effect on crystal edge was obviously not gen.

Daytonas have zero AR until 2018/19 (about 3 years into ref 116500) when they were fitted with underside AR only, which was carried over to the 12 series.

For me, I’d only change to a gen crystal as @hombre did here on his black dial. But I’m impressed with the new Clean 12 crystal on both white and black dials that I don’t think gen is worth it for such a negligible difference. If it were a cyclops model then maybe go gen..

It’s not a question if Deep is better, it’s which is closer to gen overall. I’ve had Clean V1-V3 in both white and black, and this new Clean crystal is clearer, colorless, with smoother angled reflections, closest to gen.

But I quickly realized it was far from gen — AR was too noticeable, and rainbow effect on crystal edge was obviously not gen. Daytonas have zero AR until 2018/19 (about 3 years into ref 500); then they were fitted with underside AR only, which was carried over to the 12 series.

For me, I’d only change to a gen crystal as @hombre did here on his black dial. But I’m impressed with the new Clean 12 crystal on both white and black dials that I don’t think gen is worth it for such a negligible difference..
I’d agree with this. I have a deep on my 12 and a Gen on my 11, prof on my meteorite

Prof is clear as shit but that AR isn’t Gen Rolex like

Deep is a worthwhile upgrade to the older cleans and darker dials.

New clean crystal on a white dial looks good enough to leave alone.

@m5smg2 thanks for the mention. For those thinking about the stock CF12500 crystal, it is not bad and is better than the 116 series. The gen w/AR is definitely clearer and the edge profile is sharper. Deep is going to be super clear but their edge profile is not as slanted as gen and has outside AR and a slight AR tint to it. You really just have to pick your poison. If your thinking a gen crystal better get it before prices go up anymore than they already are. I was supplied with a gen gasket but did not use it because I felt excessive force would have been required to seat the bezel and I wasn't taking a chance on cracking this insert.

I am more concerned with the “blue tint” … are one of these dials better at preventing the Blue Tint / Hue appearance on the White Dial Daytona …
CF 126500 Crystal ?
Deep Crystal ?
Genuine Crystal ?

Hello all! I'm new to all this. I've been searching for this exact model and am struggling to understand the differences across all sites.

I'm looking for:
- the absolute best quality replica (super clone?)
- same weight as genuine.
- panda color (white face, black bezel)

Can someone help me identify a link that fits my requirements? They all seem the same to me.

Link 1,

Link 2,

Link 3,

Link 4,

Any other links are welcomed.

Cheers!

100% spot on.

Personally I would not consider the deep crystal on these CF 12 series. The stock CF crystal is not incredible (like it is on the VSF subs) but does not need to be replaced as such was the case with the CF 11 series where the stock crystal was absolute crap. There is too much to trade off (not gen like look and edge profile, rainbow/creamy shade on the outer ring, fragile outer AR layer that is subject to scratches...) for the extra clarity you get.

Honestly, I'd save the money and service the movement instead as it seems to me that this is where the extra care is needed on these CF 12 series.

Now, when it comes to the gen crystal, ignorance is bliss. You don't know you need one until you get one. So if you've never felt the absolute need to upgrade the crystal on your reps then save yourself the trouble and don't as going with a gen crystal is like opening Pandora's box. Once you see it, you can't unsee it and it's probably only in your mind but you'll feel compelled to put a gen crystal on almost every other Rolex rep even when there's absolutely no objective reason to do it. You've been warned!
