Chinese brands that scratch the "itch"

I had two different Steinhart’s and some of the Chinese models.

The issue for me is quality, materials used and finish. Simply said, most reps are better in both quality and finish (depending on factory and rep of course, so referring to the top reps out there.)

I am not talking about flaws in the replication of the watch. I am also not talking about reps with poor movements.

Anyway, I tried the Chinese brands and even Steinhart, but I’ll pass.

For me personal I put San Martin and Sugess ober a Steinhart everytime!

Been looking at a few I'd these new SM with the fancy dials, blue azure etc. Super tempting but at £200 or so pounds I could save towards a rep instead lol

Yeah sure, but Steinhart? I had one Design I loved but that was a limited "Bern" Edition. But hated to wesr it. Bezel action, clasp, bracelet, rubbish.
I've only had one Steinhart, although it doesn't have a bracelet. This thing is solid and well built in my opinion, swiss 7750 too.

That’s a very nice one!

I have bought my first Spinnaker the other month and am quite impressed with it. I liked this one in particular as it provides a pepsi GMT model in 44mm size,
Which for me is a perfect size:

Just ordered this, I love a bead of rice bracelet and looks like a very classy piece

I've got this in the basket. Doesn't have the "Chinese" vibe at all, lemme know how you find it. Nice find indeed

Had the same experience with a Steinhart submariner homage. Was a great watch actually, but it didn't do it.
Sorry to tap in so late, but I’m new 😃 I love the *idea* of Steinhart, but something feels off and I can’t put my finger on it. There are a bunch of watches they make that I like but I always find something similar I like more elsewhere. And I really want to like them because I feel like they have tons of clout but no respect at all…

It’s a question of pricing.

You can get a San Martin for half of the price of a Steinhart, and it will be comparable in look and finish.

Or you can put a bit more and get a Ginault which is a whole level superior

Or for 400-600 you get a VSF or Clean rep which again has comparable finish, plus the logo (that can be a good thing or bad thing depending on your intent)

I had a Steinhart once when I was searching for the perfect sub homage, they really are not bad (i've never had a San Martin) but the lugs just turned me right off... as @Karbon74 says Ginault or Rep is the way to go!
