Hi guys, new to this game. recently purchased 2 from jason007, will be getting some more expensive better quality early next year they have not arrived yet I just have a few questions. With the cheap Jason007 watches are his watches and other watches of that tier with in 90% of the more expensive watches? What are the major differences? Are the weights of the more expensive rep watches closer to the real thing compared to the cheap ones? Just thought i would throw out the question, thanks in advance for any replies

Welcome aboard Sir,

What did you order so far?

Imho, it all depends on what you expect from it, and of course your budget.

Some members (myself included) will enjoy ootb reps, whereas others choose to modify, or add genuine parts to, their replica watches to bring them closer to their genuine counterparts, visually.

Hey mate, I ordered a rolex submariner with dark green bezel and black face, also ordered a breitling navitimer. Was looking at getting a couple more. My budget i can get the more expensive ones but im not sure if paying 4 or 5 times more is worth it if its only 5% to 10% better. I likely will get a more expensive submariner as i think they are timeless and beautiful. I wont modify them haha i have big clumsy fingers [h=1][/h]

I've got four watches from DHGate and only like two of them. The two that i like are about half as good as the reps our Trusted Dealers sells. The differences that I could see is in the materials used, fit/finish and movements used. I can't compare the weight differences as I don't have any gen version of my reps. You'll better see the differences next year when you receive your better quality reps. All the best.

Had no idea, I was going by reddit r/RepTime
Check the link to the Trusted Dealers at the top of the page, if you want to use an RWI approved TD. If you don't use an RWI TD, no one here is going to be supportive or help if you have any issues with your dealer experience.

The difference between cheap models and the top of the range models is night and day to enthusiasts. Once you see learn to appreciate the difference you won’t go back to the cheapies. My advise is always invest in quality. If you plan on sticking around long enough you’ll eventually end up buying the top dolla stuff anyway, so might as well skip the Cheapies (budget permitting).

Now this is a topic near and dear to my heart.

I want a gen. I've gone Into AD's and the shelves are barren the bloody places look like they've been robbed. I'm on wait lists blah blah blah. So I've come to the rep market.

I saw reps for $500-1000 and thought you gotta be kidding me. I saw cheapies and figured good place to start. Noone is taking a loop to my wrist and I'm not handing my watch to someone to look at.

Cheapies: for the most part, they're decent. They look proper first and foremost but. There's always something wrong with it. If you don't care then it won't bug you and 99% ain't nobody gonna know. All depends on what your trying to pull off. I have one cheapie which is as good as my mid range watches

I'm in the mid range now. $500/$600 bucks.

Steel is perfect, bracelets like butter, sel's proper, quiet movements you really gotta look to find a flaw

Stick to the m2m here and the TDs. Don't be afraid to PM people. There's lots of grouchy ppl here but they're just tired of the "who's got the best sub" threads ????????

I don’t mind getting stuff from Jason if it is not repped in a better quality version.
Cheap stuff makes for fun drunken late night purchases, but I end up giving them away to friends or selling them cheap.
Once you have had a top of the line rep ($300-500) you won’t want to wear the cheap stuff as much.
One good sub will give you more enjoyment than 5 cheap reps.
just my 2 cents

Even though I have not yet received my no date sub order from Jason yet, I am pretty sure I won't be as happy with it as my ARF gmt II that should be coming later down the line. I realized this after I looked at the closeup photos from jason.

Again, jason's U1 stuff will fool 95% of people, but for me, since I am enthusiastic about watches, it will probably bug me a lot.

The biggest tell in a rep is you, and when you are not confident, it's probably going to be harder to pass off as a gen...

It’s not just how it looks, or how good it is at fooling people.
When you go to turn the crown to adjust the time, and the hands seem wobbly, or you go to turn the bezel and it is ever so slightly wiggly, or the endlinks where the bracelet meet the case don’t line up perfectly, or when you wind the crown and it feels kinda sandy, then screws in kind of mushy, these are all little things you will notice when you have it in hand.

Good reps solve these problems. They feel expensive, the bracelet feels different, the clasp when you close it goes CLICK. Dive extensions don’t just randomly open on their own, The whole watch feels tight.

Ok maybe I’m exaggerating but you get the idea.

Think of it like this. The mediocre rep might just fool others but there is a slight chance that a top quality rep might just fool you for a while. That's what the gen-feel is all about. It's not the Rolex Submariner that's written on the dial. It's the way the scallops on the bezel feel, align and click precisely without a wobble when turned. Or the sheen the hands and markers have in the slightest light. Or the way the crown springs out when unscrewed and that reassuring resistance which still winds super smooth etc etc If you have worn a gen Rolex before, you will buy a cheapie for the way it looks but won't actually wear it much because of the way it feels. If you haven't got the real deal, and have no idea what it should feel like, then you will be perfectly happy that it says Rolex on the dial albeit almost everyone who sees it on your wrist will probably think or ask if it is fake. Some watches don't matter - frankly there is fuck all difference between a B&R or most Breitling gens and reps. Then you move down a notch to Pams and some Omegas that can be very satisfying depending on the model and whether or not they have been modified from standard basic products supplied by TDs. There is no true super rep of a Rolex and that's generally the case as you go up the complexity and/or finishing chain. So, the answer to your question is really this - depends on how much you know about the gens and what your expectations are.

Good answer mate, Im not really trying to fool anyone into thinking its real, I will not tell people its fake or allow them to hold the watch but I guess if they asked if it was fake I would likely just say its fake. I just like how they look and will be getting into the more expensive ones next year
