Always great to learn something new, I spent the a little time learning about the hydro mod process and tackled it last night.
I have plenty of mineral oil with different weights for my RC cars/trucks. The lowest I have is rated 5000ct. Didn't want to wait to order something with lesser value. But if I'm correct, the higher the rating the better the temps it can handle.
With the oil being super thick I warmed it in a hot cup of water.
Disassembly of the watch has become a breeze.
To keep the oil warm, I used the small little glass bowl and sat it on a hot cup of water. This made it easier for the oil to seep through little crevasses. One piece at a time, I used my phones vibrate to agitate the oil to allow the bubbles move. Cause the oil is thick, I need to wait about 30min per part added to and keep the water hot.
Once all the parts were in, it sat for another hour. You can see in this pic that there are no big bubbles and small bubbles are almost gone.
Not sure if you can see, but the screen of the watch is amazing. Looks like it's one solid piece.
No leaks over night, going to test the watch under cold/hot conditions today to see if any issues arise. But I'm confident that the process went well. I read that a slight bubble should be left to allow for expansion, but I don't care. I don't want to see it. If something happens, I'll chuck it and get another. For the price, I'm not scarred to experiment.
