Buyer Beware: TheOneWatches sent me a cheaper Speedmaster Racing from a different factory than I ordered and is refusing to acknowledge the issue

Hi everyone, this is a follow-up to a previous post on reddit ( https://www.reddit.com/r/RepTime/comments/18i6zbx ) that didn't gain much traction. To sum it up, I ordered an HRF Speedmaster Racing from TheOneWatches (listed at $388) and they sent me a watch from HKF instead (listed at $338 on their site). To their credit, I didn't notice this issue during QC. But when they sent me this shipping photo (https://i.redd.it/6sdbkvx7196c1.jpg) that is clearly marked HongKong Factory, which is the full-name for HKF, it set of alarm bells. I emailed them to clarify where the watch came from and I also came here to make my original post.

As of right now, TheOneWatches is claiming that HKF and HRF are the exact same factory and that they sent me the correct watch, despite the fact that they list both the HKF (https://theonewatches.io/index.php?route=product/product&path=375_384&product_id=13214) and HRF (https://theonewatches.io/index.php?route=product/product&path=375_384&product_id=10964) watches on their website.

If you take a look at this album (https://imgur.com/a/ZAtyMbf), which contains 1) my QC image 2) the HKF watch and 3) the HRF watch, you can see see that the watch they sent me is clearly an HKF watch. Two major tells are the misalignments of the 120 on the Tach, as well as the typeface of 'Tachymetre' itself on the HKF. The 120 on the HRF tach is aligned and the typeface used matches the gen.

After several emails, TheOneWatches has offered to refund me $29, which I feel is inadequate. They continue to assert that HKF and HRF are the same factory, which they clearly are not. They have lost my trust and I would encourage all buyers to look elsewhere.

However your transaction took place before you even joined up here. Unfortunately your experience is useless here as you have no history with us. If indeed you received the wrong watch that is indeed unfortunate and I would hope theonewatches would do their best to compensate you to uphold their reputation on other fora.

My only advice is to stick around here. RWI is a serious fountain of information going back years. It takes a while to get to grips with but it is well worth it in the long run. It is a lot more about a watch fanatic community than a watch purchase site. This is only a small aspect of what RWI is.

RWI is one of the more heavily moderated sites. (Secretly the staff are just all watch addicts and choose to come here in our spare time, don't tell anyone).

I can only advise ordering through RWI and you probably know by now to just follow the links in the dealer section to make a successful purchase. There are a lot of scam and mirror sites out there.

I really hope you end up with the Speedy you want. I a a big fan myself but I tend towards older models and recently I have found myself buying cheapie quartz reps because the configuration of subdials on the old moonwatches is wrong on reps anyway. I keep reminding myself to buy a real one and then I get distracted by more shiny reps. It is a vicious cycle lol.

1) I would not take any stock in factory names for any of the none big factories. Factories constantly get renamed, reshuffled,merged. An example I will give you is how GF and OF turned and merged into GOF, or how XF and VSF are the same factory, or how GMF turned into JDF back into GMF.

2) No offense, but for such a low selling model, that was released over 2 years ago, parts change. The supplier for the bezel may or may not change. You get variations of such things even in the popular models. Look at CF GMT Bezels.

3) You are expecting some kind of perfect alignment on the tachymeter as your aha! moment. Would it surprise you that even gen is misaligned? Misalignment of a bezel does not tell you anything about a factory.

By the way, I did look into this, and TheOneWatches are right. HRF doesn't exist anymore. Try asking any fucking TD (even non TDs), HRF doesn't exist. They shut down and/or reopened. Try any other TD and you will get the same answer. Here are 4 pictures of HRF/HKF. You can see the bezel font is different for all of them. The latest images I could find all have this "thick" bezel font that you're whining about.

While you are correct that there EXISTED version of the Thin Bezel, this version was 3 years old. The supplier has changed. Here are pictures of this "thin bezel". In 3 years alot happens, bezels change, suppliers change, factories shut down and reopen and finds new suppliers.

Since my last post was a little unclear, I'll clearly define it here. First of all, Steve is right where there exists HKF/HRF and they're both the same factory. They merged or renamed. This happens all the time.

When HRF/HKF first started, you were correct, there existed this version of a "THIN" Tachymetere font. But this was in 2020-2021. Do you know how much changes in 3 years in the rep game? Think back to the reps that existed 3 years ago. Just because a rep existed 3 years ago, doesn't mean it exists today.

However, starting in 2022, something happened, or suppliers change. HRF or HKF, whatever they're called. They switched bezel suppliers or something. We don't know what happens in the rep game. So the bezel font of the TACHYMETER in these versions are thicker. Here are pictures as proof.

Suppliers change in the rep game. What exists yesterday might not exist today. This goes true for the low selling, unpopular models, such as this speedmaster.

You, not knowing anything about the rep game, chose to tarnish the name of one of the TDs here. Leaving me to have to spend my time to investigate, show you physical proof, to clean up after your mistake. Instead of accepting the word of a TD at face value, you chose to bitch, complain, and go nuclear.

I see that you complain and you talked about using non TDs in the Reddit post. Well, the non TDs gave me this information, so using a non TD or a TD would be exactly the same.

I think you need to manage your expectations, but you also owe an apology to Steve.

All of you noobs, who know nothing about the rep game, or how it works, choose to accuse dealers of trying to scam you, instead of not realizing, that the fake illegal watch industry changes quickly.

What you can get yesterday is not what you can get today.

The pictures on the website, are they misleading? Yes. But this is normal. These pictures were updated 3 years ago and most TDs do not have the capacity to constantly update or keep tracking of the thousands of new models on the market to satisfy users.

Hey man, you acknowledged you messed up, and now you are trying to blame the TD. Please take responsibility for your screw up. I've had TDs send me incorrect watches during the QC process. I let them know politely by communicating clearly to them and saying "hey I ordered x, this is y, please fix", and they then sent me QC of the correct watch and life went on. I never accused them of scamming me. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and so far, with Steve and others, it was human error that was easily rectified with polite conversation.

This one is on you. And Steve has even offered you $29 because of a mistake you made? Dude, Steve has gone out of his way, please just admit you are wrong and move on. Stop asking for more money.

I have a great Clean Pepsi GMT from Steve and I asked for updates due to the long wait once per month (waited 3 months) before I got it, and he responded within 4 hours each time every time I asked. Many other members have also had positive experiences and you are now trying to get money back from Steve? Really?

Let's put it like this: Consider for a moment that your claim is right, which I highly doubted, now, for your $388 rep became a $338 one, the $50 price difference now the TD offer you a refund of $29, so it comes down to $21.

And you go all that extra mile, extra writings, photos and all the posts to fight for the $21......
