So Adrian got the LF SD I sent him. It is basically a piece of shit. So parts of the case were Gen spec, but not many. So the verdict on the LF is -Don't buy it! I am glad I bought it as it was the only SD 16600 that I could find with a 3135 in it. In the future I will be looking into building a 16600 but for now I will have to put it on hold. I have a couple other builds going on already.
So next will be the evaluation of the LF 16610, so far what I can see the font on the dial is terrible. But waiting to find out if the case is bad or not. I will keep everyone posted on that one in another thread.
To sum it up- LF SD = Crap!

Thanks for wasting your money for the good of the forum.

Someone has to buy these pieces for research.

If Adrian thinks it's no good then it's no good.

Saying that the BP isn't really very gen Spec either by the sounds of it it takes a fair amount of machining to accept Gen parts.

Adrian said the LF is pretty bad and the BP is a better choice to build. Problem for me is all my watches have SA3135's or Yuki's in them. He said it is a lot of work (but it can be done) to get a SA313 or Yuki into the BP case.
So I have abandoned the SD project for now.
I am glad I bought the LF so we can know for sure if it crap or not.

It's been my mission this last year to drive Adrian @ado213 to the edge and over. He is pretty resilient for an old guy, I will give him that.

Joking aside I just sent him my third SD T<25 Dial in hopes of completing this year long fiasco. But fear not for I have ordered a new BP SD and a second this time new Italian Police Dial. I'm sure I can get a second and maybe even a third SD build out of him before they cart him off to the Funny Farm.:hehehe::rollingonthefloor::trainwreck::daffy:

I just tried to replace the click spring on mine and seem to have made a total mess of it - the bezel just spins with very little resistance, certainly no "click"...

I've checked several posts and videos online and I'm sure the spring is in correctly and I ordered the correct one (cousins uk). I've also cleaned some sticky residue from the inside of the bezel and back of the insert.

Am i missing something very obvious? My next step is to shorten the spring slightly as I've seen suggested....

Thanks!

The spring could be broken inside the bezel but not completely. Maybe the spring came out of the hole or you bend the spring while putting the beze back on.

Normally I just lounge around in shorts and a T Shirt but lately I have been getting dressed up and driving to South Coast Plaza, Rodeo Drive and Downtown Los Angeles to hang out at the ADs/Boutiques/Second hand dealers!!! I just started going in the basements of the Jewelry District Downtown LA...Lots of little old guys that like to talk and look like they haven't seen the sun in years!

Now with the gen crown & tube and TcV3 hands in place and service on the Keyless and crown guards done, she's starting to look like that well serviced gen look I'm going for.lol
Glad to have it back.
Thanks to my bud @rsh ;) After much aggravation bugging him with thousand PM's
He decided to take on my little project,
He's been very good to me and genuine gent
He's a asset to this community and very noliagable about builds. He's a legend in his own right when it comes to building these subs.I have read countless hours of builds and mods he's done, and I knew then I had to at least try to talk him into working on my project, To my surprise he took it on. Cheers to a good plan coming together.Cheers to great members like @rsh.

BPSD is still my favourite watch. Didn't like the way it sat on my wrist when I just got it due to its thickness, but after getting used to it I can't get it off. Truly is the best OTB rep.

Hi Folks

I currently have a new BP SD and an older one. I notice differences in the hour markers, dial print, and date wheel font size.

I observe that the new has less lume in markers and you can see more of the marker rim. New has thinner dial print but looks more crisp. And new has slightly bigger dial font.

Here are some pictures. Overall, I prefer the old visually but not sure which is a better from a rep point of view. Which do you think is better and more correct?

The new one is on left and old on right.

If the LF case construction is same as BPSD? Or is LF & BPSD two totally different watches?

LF is different case construction than BPSD. Not as good

I guess wishful thinking on my part. I was hoping one of these factories would make a case that would take gen construction retainer & bezel assembly & gen spec crystal. But it's only a pipe dream.lol :hypno:

I have owned both new & old I think both watches are great I have seen variance in the crown guards, Sel fit, dials, crystal heights, etc, Especially the dial, they improved the dial because of these forums I believe?.. because the old ones had Lume problem, crooked markers, surrounds being to thick, font being to thick, etc I would say @ado213 has seen more than anybody as far as difference between the new & old given he's worked on them so much?
But I like the old cases just as much as the new. I prefer the new dial and bracelet on the new ones, but I think the rest of it pretty much the same.
Between the two you got There? I'm liking the old one.lol
