You could argue that I'm wearing a watch almost identical to a mint condition Sea Dweller worth around 7k that only cost me 1.5k.
Nobody I meet could ever tell them apart, I don't even know if I could but at the same time I can't lie and pretend it's something it's not especially when the only people that ask are close friends and family.
When I wear it, it makes me feel good and I love to look and it over and over but I still really want a Gen and I thought a Franken would stop the urge.

Get a gen! Then you will be happy with your rep lol. I felt the same way.. 2k+ into TC build. Then I got a gen sub no date. Which I love..... but.. the TC does get a lot of wrist time still. Maybe even more than the gen!

You want save your Gen this is why you wear the TC now more

Trouble is my taste keeps changing, 116610, 16610, 16613, 116613 LN and LB.
Even more recently I've been thinking what's the point in a Gen Sub when reps are so good so now looking at a Gen AP ROO.

Lol I think you jump btw two dimensions when you must think if you buy an sub and can buy an AP ROO without probs then go with the Gen Rolex... Don't think about the AP... Really...
Or you have no prob to lost a few hundred dollar... Because AP isn't sooo stable as rolex is...

If you say I buy the Watch for have Fun and I never need to think about an resell maybe... Then go with the AP ROO
But I think your thinking is same as the most people do... Which Watch I have fun with but which watch I can good resell when I need to resell... Then I can say take the Rolex... As longer as you think as higher goes the Prices for the Gen Rolexes

Yeah you're right if I'd have just bought a gen sub 3 years ago It would be worth the same amount of money now they hold value so well.
The ROO I was looking at was 2008 box and papers for 10k with original retail value 18k so that's depreciated in value 1k every year.

No chance, they all look Gen to me and like I said I've been looking at Gens daily for the past 3 years.

I own many Gen's at the meantime, I wear them but i don't wear them as daily... For Daily I use also an Rep an light Franken I call it...
But I can say not often enough, nothing beat the Gen... The overall Quality of the Rolex Sport Models is Amazing...
They are Timeless... I had an Time where I had hate Rolex, I sold them all and buyed a lot of these and that...
But at the End my love felt back to Rolex... The other Prob is the other Watches that I like a lot are directley at 20k and more... And this Prices are not realistic for me... I do me hard to spend 20k into an Watch...
The other Part for me why I like Rolex is, they Build all Movements in House, and the Movements are simple but stable as hell... They are same as an old Work Horse...
And another thing is I can Service them self hehe I get the parts for the Movement if something is broken or defective.
The AP you saw are at an normally Price range... You'll find often AP ROO for 10k euro but when you look exactley you'll see that they had no Service. And the Service for the Movement only is at 1,5k and you wait minimum 4 months atm. The most People wait 6 months.
You can't get parts easy, so the Service will be no prob but if you need some spare part you are F...ed.
So better spend more $$$ into an fresher AP makes more sense and a lot of trouble less

The BP is an good base and an absolut nice Rep for sure... But I can tell you directley which one is rep and which one not... The Hard Edges at the Case and Case self makes it easy for me... But don't see me as Reference

+1. Reminds me of a thread on TFR a few month ago. Someone post a noob v6 sub and everyone was saying "nice watch" beautiful". But then one of the rep guys went on there and blew it up. Spotting all the tells. Then everyone was saying omg [emoji33]... a light mod TC would fool even the AD from the outside.
