Tritium, leaky case, just a bad marker, used watch.

Great choice for George Brett & Johnny Bench fans? They wore 5's on their jerseys I believe. :)

Not exactly the right thread for this but it is a SeaDweller
Here is a picture of a 'gen' SD for sale.
What would be the reason for the discoloured 5 marker?

12 marker looks skewed as well. Glad it's not a rep… lol

You sure that's a gen. ...lol
Officially Certified looks sorta like BP SD. ha ha ha. We can critique gens too.

Because it's old. See the dial marking: Swiss - T < 25

That's from back when they used real Tritium lume.

Good spot. Should it prevent buying at the right price?
I guess a RSC service would fix it and add some authentic documentation to the watch which currently has none.

At the right price I'd buy it and leave it as it is. It'll only get more valuable if you let it age gracefully. RSC will probably replace the dial and ruin the value 10 years from now. In fact, I'd never let a RSC touch one of my watches. Their service is way overpriced and they have ruined many a collectible watch by replacing the gen vintage parts.

If it bothered me I'd put in a TC dial and hands and keep the gen parts in a safe place until ready to sell it..

Another dial Question:
Since my SD is not an BP, could you say me who made this dial and do you like it or is it crap?
What I can tell is that lume sucks on it and it has really a raised print. Depends on how good it is I maybe let it relume and put it in an BP case.
As I´m a noob on comparing text and wich versions out there, I hope the pros can chime in.

Looks like the super seadweller (ssd) from years ago. It has the LEC (laser etched crown) at 6.

Thanks, you make some excellent points.

Actually I like the look it had.

Could you request RSC don't swap certain parts regardless, or at least return them back with the watch?

Is an advantage of a service on a watch with absolutely no documentation that you then at least have some official authentication?

I've never personally dealt with any RSC, but from what I've read in the past they have more than once removed and replaced vintage parts and in fact ruined the value of some fine pieces. Also, they almost never will return the old parts.

This is only hearsay from my reading forums on the Net. You need to find out from the service center you deal with exactly what their policies are. And find out if they are doing it in house or sending it somewhere else. Because, "somewhere else" may not have the same policies.

First off, Herbert, that dial has a terrible "O" and looks like a NooB factory dial to me.

As to Rich in the UK,
As others have stated already, stay away from RSC. They will say one thing and do another. However, they are incredibly good and maybe are the best, at bringing an old watch back from the dead and looking like NEW… IF you like that sort of thing, I don't.
Finding a good shop is tough. I use ABC Watchwerks in L.A. for my Gens. They are terrific and about half the price of RSC. I just wait until I have to be on the West Coast and then pay them a visit. Quick, thorough and less$$, doesn't get much better than that.
But I would have to believe there is a decent shop in the U.K. somewhere.
Good luck.

Slightly off topic, hoping to have my BP back from Ado before Xmas with lots of work done and goodies installed. Can't wait to see it with this dial on it!

With a lot of difficulty! Not a gen, but it's awesome isn't it?!

I have a spare that I'll be selling once I have the watch back and I know I definitely don't need it anymore!

I'm about a 45 minute drive from this business in light traffic, Thank you for the reference I will be calling them soon after Christmas to service the movement on my 1997 gen Omega 2531.80 poor thing hasn't had a service in about 10 years and it looses about 30 sec per day.

Lucky man.
Vintage is truly their bag and they take every precaution.
10 years is also what I consider about right even in the face of what most "experts" say.
Cheers.
