Then it must be the flat 4 insert cuz mine has gen insert non flat 4 and it sits lower makes Xtal looks even higher. Not as bad a macro pics make it look on the wrist. But definately higher then before.
Maybe your on to something. The insert on my gen 14060 sits pretty flat. It is pointy 4 and the 14060/16600 inserts are same size. Flat 4 deff has a little more height on it.
bgreg's does look extremely proud compared to Charles's considering they both have stock BP Xtals fitted. I doubt the cause is the insert as the insert is tied by the case dimensions, but I could be wrong?.
When bgreg's arrives I'll take a closer look at this phenomenon and see if we can't get to the bottom of it, would make an interesting post.

Don't forget the BP originally came with a different crystal than the later ones. That could be an early one.
They had more of a bevel than the SSD or later BP ones. And, they looked pretty ugly from looking straight on at the face. I remember commenting when they first came out how the crystal ruined the whole watch for me. Later ones seemed to have the same crystal as the old SSD.

Hmm so do you think that may apply to this one? I've been contemplating purchasing it in the m2m. Or just buying a stock one and starting from scratch. This one has a Chinese movement and I think I would prefer an eta. Also uses the tc crown and tube and I'd like to go gen with that
I couldn't say for sure from that picture, but the bevel does seem different from my BP and SSD. Here's a picture of my BP which has been sold long ago. It's with a stock gen insert. Tell me what you think.
I'm looking to go gen height or lower also...once Adrian gets it I'm sure he'll be able to sort it out.
The high crystal drives me nuts I have the pointy 4 and asked Adrian to put the crystal on the low side of genuine. We will see one day. I still don't have it but I'm hopefull .one day

You can fix it by replacing it with a TC bracelet.
I will try to mod the bracelet soon. Will try to take pix.
