Hello everyone.

In September 2022 I sent Ricciardo (Harleysta91) my PPF V2 5712 for modding.

Other than that I sent a genuine moon disk, which i paid 845$ for.
And I sent him a SW dial later (value of 398$).

The agreement was to service the movement, install the moon disk, do some case work for 550€.

Then the problems started.

1. First he destroyed the genuine Patek Philippe moon disk.

He told me that he would do the mods for free. Even though the moon disk is more expensive that the mods I accepted that. I thought that errors can happen and I should give him the benefit of the doubt. I then sent him a Keylog74 moon disk (170$).

When I learned that other forum watchmakers (@majwilliams0308 , @legend ) have performed moon phase swaps with genuine part without mishaps. I asked him if he can send the watch back to me, so I can send it to @legend. He didn’t accept that.

2. Afterwards the paint (text) went off when he was cleaning the bridges. It was really weird that it happened, but again I gave him the benefit of the doubt and in the end he exchanged them with a colleague.

At this time it had been almost a year.

3. After 1.5 year he told me that he had assembled the watch, but the clutch wheel part broke while he was setting the time to test the watch. I have seen no prove of it, so honestly speaking I can’t know if it did happen to my watch, or if he just used the clutch wheel part from my watch for someone else. Because I’ve seen other ppf V2 coming from him. But I just had to take his words for it.

After waiting two years and suggesting him solutions, i lost my patience and contacted @Cicero to help with the situation.

@Cicero told him to install a new movement in the watch and send it back. And he also gave him a direct instruction to send pictures of my watch.

He accepted, but still hasn’t even sent the pictures yet, which was 4 months ago.

I am not sure if the watch is in his possession or not.

I have about 1376€ of watch/parts with him at the moment, and have asked him to send me my money back. I don’t know if he will have the decency to do that.

I know unfortunate things can happen when you are modding watches. But I expect a Trusted Watchmaker to follow the instructions of the staff at the very least.

Therefore I recommend everyone to think twice before you send him your precious watch.

Admin edit: Don't post PM's, especially those from staff.

I understand your frustration, and once again it involves a 'self taught' watchmaker who is thoroughly out of his depth, but you are not to post screen shots of PM's, especially those from staff members.

You have this persons name, his address, buy a plane ticket and take a short break in Italy - it's lovely this time of year. Whilst you're there you can collect your property from the 'watchmaker'.

I am sorry @tripdog , I will be having this in mind for the future and will off course respect not to do it.
My intention was not to break the rules. I didn’t think it in that way.
Thanks for correcting my mistake though. I can see you already removed the image of the correspondence with the staff, which I’m glad you did, as I was gonna ask if you can help with it.

Yeah I will see what I can do. It’s a lot of money to have hanging out. So maybe that’s the solution to knock on his door.

This is absolutely not good... It can always happen, that things break or are already in a half broken state when it arrives on the desk. But it should be documented and most important, clearly communicated. When I broke a part during modding or servicing, I replace it on my own expense and apologize and if somebody ask for return, return it as they please... Smh

Unfortunately I didn’t see this before getting into this project. I don’t speak Italian, so I wasn’t aware of this post. No one had posted anything negative on his Trusted Watchmaker wall.
Now that I’ve translated the page. It’s bad.

Yes. You are right. He sent me pictures of the broken moon disk, but didn’t document the broken spring, the paint coming off the bridges or the broken clutch wheel.

And in the end he hasn’t sent pictures of the watch being in his possession, requested by staff.

Amateurs , to put it mildly.

Basically he destroyed everything.

True. From the page @tripdog sent, I can see, more users have experienced the same

@Dufan
@FiliGelli
@fulgenzio67

And as I read from the post @Johnny Depp has recovered many of his mistakes.

quoto a favore di
FiliGelli

dear Riccardo, don't always play the victim,
you're talking about psychological violence?? But what about? And then what do your customers have to say? WITH SO MUCH BULLSHIT????
who spend non-existent money to then find themselves not with a rep, but with a watch that's worse than before,
the problem here has been for a while, that people come with waterproofing that hasn't been done, with glasses that turn with their fingers, revisions that haven't been done and more.
Why do revisions to the 2813 and make the customer spend 200/250 on a movement that costs €40 new??
With or without it's always a disposable movement with a single plate... since you take great care of the customer, why don't you explain that this movement doesn't need a revision?

When I'm asked to review the 2824, 2836, 4130 etc... I always ask the question, WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO IT?? IS IT BAD? ARE YOU SURE?

1- why do a "preventive" overhaul on a 2836/24 that runs well? It's like a doctor operating on a patient who is in good health, he does it to "prevent"?

2- why do a polish (polishing) on a watch that has just come out of the factory?? It doesn't make sense... one thing is to brush it manually to make the steel shine.
But the shiny part is not to be touched if the watch is new, 16610 with rounded cases due to badly done brushing, on new watches without a reason

3- why take on jobs that you are not capable of doing?? do as I do, I say NO!!

4- why extort money for non-existent interventions such as "laser polishing"?? but do you at least know what it is and what the "laser" is for?

5- why do you make fun of people about the times when it is easier to say 30/60/90 days of waiting, if you can't wait amen, friends as before??

and I'm not going to list how many people you've taken for a ride, who came to me, I managed to get some back, to others I said NO!
your problem is that you're making fun of these newbie guys who try to buy a replica for €400/500 , expecting a 100% like gen watch after our interventions
but it's not like that, unless original parts are added, that's another story

be a man, try to work honestly with transparency and respect for the members of this forum
you don't lack customers, why behave like this??? it doesn't make sense...

I intervened first only because dufan gave the watch to me in desperation
this is violence and psychological stress, (in reference to what you said before)
I took this case to heart, because you made a big mistake in my eyes
otherwise I would have done as always....SHUT UP

stop acting like a child, actor, victim and executioner, psychologist, trusted dialler, lawyer and fake moralist!! Be a man and continue to work with transparency.... I wish you good luck!

as cannavacciuolo says....ADIOS!

oh I forgot, you don't need to tell the members "I DON'T DO SHIT LIKE JOHNNY DEPP" because then the shit comes to the surface,
regards

Should such a person should have a RWI approval to be trusted vendor / watchmaker? @kilowattore

Unfortunately issues with @Harleysta91 go back a long time, the linked thread is five years old...

Riccardo did work for forum members for a long while before issues arose. He collaborated promptly and solved them all with complete refunds and all parts/watches returned, no one lost anything.

In light of that admin staff decided to give him a spot as a trusted dealer against the promise that there would have never been issues anymore.

As it turns out now this is not the case.
As far as I'm concerned this problem needs to be righted immediately and I hope this is the only one.

Should other issues surface I think Harleysta had his chance and threw it away.
We had way too much drama lately with various modders and it's become quite tiring just reading about them.

Parts can break and imho it's not fair to let the watchmaker bear replacement cost in full (we are not talking about Rolex service center where if a hand is scratched they just order a new one from the warehouse and they sure don't pay retail price for it).
Delays can happen for a number of reasons although two years sounds like a lot.
Communication should never stop though. Imho this is unacceptable. You can have all issues in the world but you can't let a customer in the dark.

@daytona4me posted a few words on this matter recently which I subscribe in full.

I wonder if it would help if all watchmakers currently operating on the forum would be forced to read and accept those terms from now on?

@kilowattore

Thanks. Yes I read the whole thread from 5 years ago, that @tripdog posted.
And it was a bit of a mess, which you used a whole lot of your time to sort. And in the end it was sorted. I can understand if this frustrates you.

I hope he participates in solving the issue according to staff instruction and not how he thinks it should be. It seems to me as if the problem has been, that he feels he knows the better.

So sorry that this has happened and certainly hope that you get your property back and some resolution can be made. It just seems the 'watchmaker' drama continues to stack up. As I stated in the OASCOM thread, let this be a reminder to all of the vendors here in hopes to keep them toeing the line.

Nothing positive to report from here. On the contrary, @Harleysta91 is coming up with a new BS story, that he has sent the movement to China for repair.

He hasn’t sent the pictures requested by @Cicero and neither has he put a new movement into the watch, as Cicero asked him to do. Also he is refusing to make a refund.

I replied to him that this is BS and not acceptable. And I’m not just gonna let him runaway with my hard earned money. I have his address after all.

@Harleysta91 Read this thread:

Specifically this post:

IF A CUSTOMER REQUESTS A REFUND AND ITEMS RETURNED.
If funds are paid for repairs / upgrades, and repairs have not been made, you have 10 days to return the funds and the equipment from the time the member requests the refund and return. This of course minus a reasonable bench fee for any diagnosing time, and shipping costs. If their deposit was used to buy parts for that customer, the parts must be returned with their property. If the part was paid for but not yet received, you may have to allocate costs for a second return shipping as it is still expected to return the property and unused funds within 10 days from request.

Your customer has repeatedly asked you to return his property to him him.

You now have 10 days in which to return him his property.
