I think the 1661 and 1118 are both great models ND 2 of my favorites so far. That is from this year and that I had.
I will only vote for models I've had or have because imo the experience from pics and the experience from wearing it are entirely different.
For example, I loved the 1663 as soon as it came out. I ordered it and got it and started wearing it and... I felt very little. And I tried to like it. I tried to love it. I wanted to love it. But I just didn't bond with it.
I think the reason is that it... Let's say "what you see is what you get".
Where as, let's say the 1118 has so many subtle features and details that it's just a pleasure to look at to see what time it is.
If you look at the dial head on, the hands look like the float and it looks like a computer enhanced image where the hands turn bold and float and make it easy to tell time.
When you look at the dial from angles, the dial shows colors from grey to silver to white to even purple.
This is an old Pic collage but it shows what I mean.
And with the lume, it's just an incredibly bold watch. Everything about it is bold. The dial and all its colors. The way the hands look. The lume - if you go inside after being out on a sunny day, the wat h is glowing and will catch everyone's eye. I've been saying this for a while. And I think it is amazing how it's so bold considering when you look at it, it's all stealthy and black.
The 1661 - while having many different characteristics, I think it still has these subtle little details that give it some appeal. I call these 2nd layer details. Just in my own head really.
I had mine relumed to have a darker blue because the vsf lume is too light imo and now it looks amazing.
But I think these were my 2 favorites of the year.
