This is an awesome thread and something I have been looking to have built for myself the last couple of weeks.

@e1phantom do you mind if I drop you a PM re your meteorite dial source too?

Anybody seen the RBF Meteorite dials in person?. Got sent these examples from a dealer (not RWI) and they look better than the BUFF ones I’ve seen ;

Opinions welcome :)

@Temple - The dial overall is good but the dial print is a bit on the light side (should be slightly bolder). Sub dials look ok. As a side note: The chrono hand is set back to 0/60.

It's really hard to say who makes better meteorite dials. I've seen good RBF dials as well as good BUFF dials. It really depends on the meteorite which is always a crap shoot and the beauty of going with a meteorite dial.

Thanks - the dial has been installed into watch so wasn’t too bothered with the chrono. That is the owners problem :ROFLMAO: .

But I think you’re right, I’m seeing a real mix having spoken to a whole bunch of different producers.

I think nearly all of the rep dials I’ve seen have had ‘dull’ print due to the nature of printing on meteorite

Per David, “
Buff Meteorite Dial

These come in light, med and dark patterns.

I'm the picture with multiple dials the blue circles are the darker dials. Medium has some patterns visible. Light is very light and less patterns. Gen would fall into the med category.”

The pics are low resolution, but the dial printing looks bolder on the Buff dial.

I would deffo say the dial printing is better but the actual quality of the meteorite/pattern looks worse compared with Gen. Appreciate every dial is unique but prefer the RBF dials I’ve seen so far I think

2 reasons why I've balked at purchasing a meteorite Daytona: 1) Price, 2) Inconsistency of the meteorite pattern and print.

I read somewhere that Clean was going to release a version but I haven't seen one yet. Now that would be interesting.

I really doubt any standard factory, including Clean, will come out with a worthy meteorite dial. Best to leave these specialty dials to the specialty parts factories, IMO.

Would deffo agree. A stock dial from Clean would either by made to look like meteorite or low standard compared with a manufacturer who specialises

QF released one last August and it looked pretty good. Real meteorite was used. Some of them were really nice.

Wasn’t a fan of any of the ones I saw.
