Avenger II GMT DLC or Avenger Blackbird DLC

I owned the Avenger II GMT last year in stainless steel, ended up beadblasting it because it was too blingy, then sold it.

I want to get a blacksteel which I think I will enjoy. I'm trying to decide whether I want to get the GMT or go 1mm bigger for the Blackbird. My wrist can accommodate either size, so I'm not worried about that 1mm tipping the Blackbird into too big.

Anyone own both that could chime in? Also, I'd really prefer having the deployant. I've seen some images of people getting the blacksteel deployants. Will most TDs be able to source that? I'd love the rubber Breitling stamped strap with too, considering I have a custom canvas strap that would work with the deployant.

Go for the Blackbird. The GMT Blacksteel is too small, light and thin for the rubber / deployant combo. And it also has a glaring error; the wrong reference number on the caseback.

GMT is made of steel. Blackbird is made of titanium. Blackbird weighs less than the GMT.

I personally preferred my GMT over my Blackbird. The AR out of the box was way better, I like the 24hr hand, and I like the bidirectional bezel. Don't get me wrong, the Blackbird is great and is closer to gen, but I like my GMT better.

I've had the Blackbird and still own the GMT II DLC. I haven't considered buying the Blackbird again, but couldn’t stop thinking about the GMT after I've sold it. It's just that good, the size is perfect and it's insanely well made and solid. I've managed to buy another one and it's a keeper. I have it on rubber and it looks great on my 7.25 inch wrist.

Rep rubber with a rep tang buckle, both amazing quality. The strap is still as good as new, pliable, no cracks, no funny smells and zero damage on the buckle. I wanted both gen, the strap and the buckle, but saw no point after comparing them to the rep versions.

I really prefer deployants for being so streamlined. You know how people source the blacksteel deployants?

I had a really hard time finding one two years ago, it was made by H-factory and almost impossible to get. I don't think you can get one nowadays, since the H-factory is out of business.. And the gen is extremely overpriced..

I’m not sure what watch you have but my GMT Blacksteel is made out of titanium and is the lightest watch I own.

Hands down the GMT, I had the blackbird as I thought I would prefer it but I had no doubt and the GMT is much closer to gen so I sold the Blackbird without wearing it.

I added many gen straps and gen blacksteel deployment and it is out of this world!

A couple of pics...

I don't know if it's still true, because I moved away from Breitling, but my Blackbird had an issue with hands and markers on the dial not being the same color. And they should be. Plus I hated that canvas strap, it started to fray the first time I put it on my wrist.

You should recalibrate your wrists.

Here's the weight of my old GF Blackbird before I sold it. 72 grams with 2 spring bars.

Here's my GF GMT Blacksteel. 82 grams without spring bars.

Perfectly matching my GF GMT White dial. 82 grams without spring bars.

It's almost as if GF just uses the same cases and casebacks they make for the GMTs, and adds a DLC coating to them.

Search "avenger II gmt" in the search box of many TDs, it pops right up. You want GF.

Thanks, found it in the meantime.

Does anyone know if the forged carbon red Avenger GMT is a fantasy model? I cannot find any information on that model.

That’s weird. I have this one:

It certainly feels lighter than my steel GMT. I must be mistaken.
