Hello RWI!
My Name is E7HAN (ETHAN with a 7) and today I have something oh-so-special for you!
I plan on making a rep Audemars Piguet Lebron James look more authentic.
"How am I going to do that?" you might ask.
Well let's start with the basics.
I am no watchmaker, in fact I know barely anything about how watches work. That's where you guys come into play.
I plan on changing the following things of an Audemars Piguet Lebron James to make it look more authentic:
*Change date window position to farther from tachymeter
*Fix the hour hand's giant base
These are incredible hard to do for someone like me, who has never taken a watch apart before.
Here is the website I will most likely buy the rep from:
http://www.pure-time.com/product/ro...ion-on-rubber-strap-a3126-free-leather-strap/
***IF ANYBODY KNOWS HOW TO REMOVE THE HANDS, THE DIAL, THE SAPPHIRE, THE BEZEL, THE DATE WHEEL, OR ANY OTHER PART OF AN AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK OFFSHORE WATCH, PLEASE HELP ME OUT BY REPLYING TO THIS THREAD OR PMing ME. THANK YOU***
Let's start off with the plan:
How am I going to change the date window position?
REP PHOTO:
You may be able to notice (if not from this picture, look at the other pictures) that the date window is centered over the "I" in "Piguet."
Here is a photo of a gen:
As you can see in this picture, the date window is perfectly centered over the letter "P".
Here are the steps I will attempt to take to fix this problem:
1. Pop cyclops lens out
2. Cut into the date window that couple millimeters to where the left end of the hole should be.
3a. Buy another rep watch and cut a sliver of the dial that matches the right end of the hole that needs to be covered, and superglue it in.
3b. Paint/sand this part as much as necessary to make it look untouched.
4. Now the inner rectangle will need to be cut to be directly underneath the date window. I will cut a large rectangle (the lines will be unseen by the date window, and take a part of the 2nd watch I bought and superglue it so the date rectangle is in it's correct position. For some this might not make sense but I can't think of another way to describe this process.
5. Scan the date wheel on my printer and photoshop it so the numbers are a little farther to the center of the dial. Print, cut, and replace with previous date wheel.
6. Pop cyclops lens back in
7. Fix anything else that needs to be fixed that I discover along the way
There, that mostly covers the date window position to be fixed. Please let me know if there is anything I need to know about this process.
Now onto the next goal:
Fixing the wide base of hands:
If you look at the pictures, the spot where all the hands meet on the rep is way larger than that of the genuine.
(PLAN A)
I plan on taking the hour hand of the watch, and sanding/filing the base of it until it is just a tad smaller and then just put it back on.
(Will the outside still be rose gold? If not, I can paint it.)
(PLAN B)
I can paint the outside portion of the base of the hour hand to the same color as the dial, to look like it is smaller.
I prefer plan A, but can do Plan B if necessary.
There!
I will just reassemble the watch back to normal, and it will look more like the genuine.
If anyone can supply genuine dial/hands or help out with this process for a good price, that would be appreciated.
If you have any comments or questions, please leave them down below.
If you can help me out in any way, please reply to this thread or PM me.
If you have any comments or questions about this AP ROO in general, leave them below.
I will be responding to most replies.
Once again, if anybody knows how to take off the hands, the dial, the sapphire, the bezel, the date wheel, or any other piece of the watch that would aid in this process, please reply to this thread.
Thank you for reading this whole post.
I look forward to reading and responding to your replies.
Have a good day.
