I know this but see it like this they upped the price of a 316l to 904l daytona from 330 usd to 450 usd or so just by saying 904l is more expensive even if you would take the tooling costs that are more in evaluation it would only increase in price by a fraction, its a bogus like rolex makes a sub for 550 usd thats what it costs rolex to make 1 submariner that is inc material and labor.

Yeah I understand your feelings. That said, ARF is the only one with 904L steel in their watches, and you can't blame them for trying to leverage their first mover advantage.

Hopefully being able to sell these watches at a premium will encourage more innovation in the rep industry generally, which is a good thing for all of us!

If the quality is higher, and their are no serious flaws, I think it is worth every penny. Not too long ago we were buying replica subs and sea dwellers for $300 then sinking hundreds more in necessary mods. I am all in for an out of the box solution that needs nothing. Having 904L is no big deal to me, but it is taking this watch to another level of super-repdom. I really need to get off the fence and book one of these already!

Wow as a human we get fucked over easy, 316l price per ton is 1500 usd and 904l is 2000 usd so basicly each watch has like 30 cents worth of steel.

Less than 30 cents.

Market value dictates the value. You'll never pay the manufacture cost on anything.

Lol, you think it costs Rolex $550 to make a Sub? Its less than half that...

My opinion on the Daytona is that is looks great but the rotor is noisy and anyone setting the watch will know it's a REP right away. The hands turns just to easily without resistance like a GEN Daytona.

Do you let other people set the time on your watches? I sure as hell don't, but if anyone asks I am proud to say it is a rep.

Yes, pretty much half the time I wear my watches people want to examen it, setting the time, listen to the movement, check the chrono. With this ARF REP and my low beat Daytonas the movement feels the same. Im quite disappointed.

Sorry to hear that. If you are looking to sell, maybe we can set something up :)

**Of course through a reserved sale on the classifieds**

Don't think I've ever had anyone try to set the time on my watch, if they did I'd be fuming.

LOL who in the right mind would even let someone else mess with their watch like that? And why the heck would someone even ask you to take the watch off. Either u are too young or u look like u cant pull it off :p

I concluded a supplier meeting today at 11PM. We stayed and chatted after the meeting. These guys all wear Rolex Subs coming from the shipowner company Maersk. DHL had dropped off my new Seiko earlier that morning and I wore it box fresh in the meeting. Lo and behold on of the guys wanted to see it as he was looking for a beach watch. I take it off, hand it over and watch as he turns the bezel and compare it to his SubC. He did not try to set the time.

I´ve just ordered the Daytona ARF. Is a genuine dial a must buy or is the dial printing flaw not that obvious. I could buy a genuine dial for 520 Euro.

That must make for some very long days if people come up to you to do this process 50% of the time you wear a watch.
