That must make for some very long days if people come up to you to do this process 50% of the time you wear a watch.

I do a lot of meetings. It's mostly in those settings the exchange of watches take place. It has happened two times this week already.

whats the fuss? i've often asked to try people watches on - its what people who like watches do. not all the time, like they have other things to do as well, but certainly not unusual once conversation moves off business / girls, and onto whats on your wrist. it happens.

that assumes you know them, and you're kind of friendly already - not some whack job asking to go around trying stuff on.

Our fellow BMs on here are putting too much emphasis on this. It might a a European thing, being open & friendly.
Unknown gestures to people from other continents. Anyhow...

Yeah after business and pussy comes watches and these are guys I have a business relationship with and not some unknown gypsy of the street! Point is the new Daytona looks amazing but I was disappointed with the movement. It's oiled now and run super smooth but for people in the know setting / winding the watch will give it away. I might have hoped for a messiah with this REP and was disillusioned.

No sir!! Its what you apparently do not i. I like watches and I have never gone up to someone and asked them to try their watch on. Let alone start adjusting the time ect ect which Mr Logan stated. That said to each their own i guess.

no no no... you didn't read what i wrote - its not about going up to them - that would be weird and if someone came up to me like that they'd get one on the chin.

- i said its normal assuming you know them - friend, meeting whatever, and are already in conversation about your watches.

Trying the watch on is one thing, I often hand mine over if people show a big interest...I mean, I didn't Franken the fuck out of my watches to tell everyone they are reps so I'm pretty confident I'm not gonna be called out on them. I've had people turn the bezel but never try and set the time, I guess that's where having sa or sh movements is quite useful

For me a watch is a personal thing. I don't ask to try people's watches on, let alone play with them. Are you the guy that asked to sit in someone's car and starts to play with the buttons ect ect?? Friend or no friend if that's what you do god bless ya but I don't and wouldn't, so you saying that's what people do who like watches is what you do, not i sir.

I finally ordered my ARF daytona :)

As soon as it will arrives to me i will send this to my moddder.

He already has an ARF daytona (who had died after a week he had received)

He had completely disassembled the movement and found wrong wheel games. Those who mounted the movement had made a mistake at the factory.

He has examined the movement and told me that this movement will not have any reliability issues in the future. This is a very solid movevement done to work well, like the gen IWC Portoguese.

He told me though that the decorative plate is a total shit. The screws on the decorative plate can be folded and fall inside the movement! The decorative plate should then be removed to avoid problems in the future.

The most important thing, however, is the rotor. The ARF rotor is too light and makes the precision of the movement inaccurate, as well as not charging it properly as it should. The ARF rotor should be replaced with a genuine ETA.

Thank you for sharing with us, I ordered one of these as well and I don't even like the Daytona but this just looked too good to pass up on, is your modder located in EU?

Yep, he is located in Italy, but i don't know if he works for a large quantity of people, i don't think so...

However i've some passion/hobby and if i will start a new "old" car project i will sell this ARF that i've just ordered :)

And exactly WTF is that supposed to mean? You have a problem with Romney people?
This is the second time today I have pulled people up over racist remarks about Roms, the next one is in for a nasty surprise!

Then why the obviously disparaging "Gypsy" remark?
Don't think @johnlogan meant it in a way of disrespecting the traditional 'gypsies' but just using it as a regular swear word. Commonly used in the UK, I'm sure you know about it. It doesn't essentially have to be understood in the racist way unless it's super obvious and related to something that truly mates up in the case.

Are we really getting on about being super politically correct? I remember it always was about being able to handle some banter, even some harsh one at certain times.
