ARF GMT 116710 SH3186 photo review

Haven't figured out why the date wheel is stuck again? Adding misiekped to see if he has any thoughts on how to remediate this issue.

Is your Bezel slight misaligned?
Mines out by half an mm!! But it bothers the hell out of me! Haha

Did you get a breakdown of which gen part numbers were used bro? There are five or six calendar parts.

Any tips on how to align the bezel insert, its a few mm out and it will bother me...

Mine was a bit off. I replaced with a gen bezel insert, because i had one laying around. The ARF insert is very good, it is 99%. A little deeper engravings, but not noticeable and the color is very close. BUT... the insert is thin and pressure fitted. I used a watch press to remove it and it broke into 3 pieces. I can not see popping it off without breaking it 9 out of 10 times. If you pop the bezel, which i taped the case where i put the case opener under the bezel and patiently worked it, rocking it, then you would see the part pressed around the case with groves which the 3 pinned click spring rides, i would reposition that.
If I was you, i would leave it alone, they are great watches OTB. Congrats

Anyone else had the paint coming off the numbers? Any way to fix this?

I have seen a couple other reports like this, they are not common. But these rep bezel paint jobs are not made to endure constant water exposure, especially salt water. There are all kinds of paint mods that can largely improve a condition like this.
For the sh3186 I got these parts to fix the possible issue. I don’t think the last two are necessary but don’t want any issues using a gen datewheel.

Thanks bro. I just found something very interesting on an SH3186. One of the date disc retaining pins was crushed and deformed, but even more surprising was a shim was glued onto the date seating plate. It looks like the factory messed up the DW install and made a quick fix. It didn't last though. Fortunately I have a spare parts movement to scavenge from.

Wow yeah that’s rough.
Debating on swapping what’s needed over to a vr3135 to make a sh3186. The slight difference in stem heights allows the sh3186 fit better into a noob case.
Also on the crystal date mag with gen or prof crystals. Wonder if the gasket heights others are using may be the issue. I installed a gen crystal on a ARF gmt case and it looks good.

Someone should tell ARF their fix isn't lasting. The disc is dragging on the shim, what were they thinking?

Yep, same thing, I got a flawless new ARF that arrived with the DW stuck, it works perfectly and it’s a jewel, but the DW is stuck in place, I can’t be bothered, guess it’s gonna go for a trip in the sales section soon

I understand u very well ,mate!!! bezel has a little gap between the "clicks", 1/2 mm....simple to align, but simple to misalign too ;-)
it is a great rep, i honestly do not think it need a different crystal or other parts to be gen like.
