Hey, I had the same fears as you had when I bought my first AP (which was a 15400 from sead) and I now own it over a year and the gold is still in perfect condition. I think the wearing off is just the case with cheaper reps. Mine was one from JF.

Theres not even a single scratch, how often do you wear this? Once a year? I tried to be as careful as I can wearing my 15400 but I cant seem to keep it as pristine as yours.

Looks mint that white dial, I scratched the case messing around with screws that wouldn't go in properly, have screwdriver dinks on all 4 corners...

It's not my daily, in fact I don't have a daily cause I have so many watches and keep them all in rotation. In fact it's still in pristine condition, as all of the others I have. I gues it's because I don't wear them too often and I tend to baby all of them, LOL.

True, if you take care of them they will last as long as you wish. I find having a piece of mine owning all these reps, simply because its so cheap to maintain them. Even if they sit in the box all year round you wouldnt be too worried its gone to rust since its just a rep. If its a gen then we have a major problem $$$$$$

Take one from JF. The gold plating is ok and if you take care of major scratches you can be really happy witch this one for a long time. But you have to stay away from strong polish.

RG Plating on the bezel is good but has faded on both my 15400 TT crown and 15450 crown.

This happened to my EMBER Diver, the crown RG faded off after rubbing with a couple of bracelets. I since replaced them, cost me $35 from a TD :(

Now im more cautious.

And how about the gold plating on the small connecting mid-links of the bracelets? Some reports here saying they are not plated at the sides and this is visible...

All rg have fully plated links, every surface.

Do you think it oxidase and RG became slightly lighter in color?

Not at all
I have a lot of RG and YG watches and all of them are like new.
Even 2 hublots RG since 2011 and still like new.
Go for it and you will not regret

I'm asking because JF AP Rose Gold is nothing like gen AP Rose Gold - it should be less bronze looking. That's why I sold all my JF AP Rose Gold reps.

Someone told me that it will get slightly lighter over time.

It depends on sweat and also humidity of the weather, my RG wears out. Now I have to replace the mid case!

Who wears a gold watch everyday? If you wear yours once a month like I do - it will outlast you I promise.

Brilliant thanks for the advice guys.

Now just to decide Silver dial or blue dial???

I'm actually deciding on the same thing -- I went in AP and tried on the RG w the blue dial and it was beautiful. Understand it was a Gen but fell in love. Please let me know what u decide.

Have u selected a TD?

individual body chemistry will have varying effects with how well the plating wears.
