Where I need to be.
Hi,

I have been talking with a guy to buy a modded APSF 15500st.

He lists the parts as follows:
-APSF Audemars Piguet 15500ST Grey Dial w/ clone A4302 ($518)
-DP Custom Grey Dial ($355)
-Deep Crystal ($71)
-Case modifications by Hillbilly ($200)
Case and bracelet refinishing
Screw recess adjustments and rotor silencing

He wants 900$ for it. Is this a reqsonable price for the listed watch, and can i post some pictures of the watch here to get some second opinions? :)

Thanks in advance!
There’s just a few things wrong with your post;

1. If you’re buying from someone privately, you need to understand you do so at your own risk.

2. Second, don’t bother posting pics or getting opinions if it’s a watch you’re buying privately.

3. Lastly, every modder here charges differently for their work and also has different work quality as well. There is no right or wrong price, you purchase using your own discernment.

Kindly do not post the pics here asking for opinions. Everyone may have different opinions and this is similar to posting QC pics before its approved. You just don’t.

No I wasn’t offended please don’t get me wrong.
It’s just that if it’s a private deal you choose to do, keep it private please. Makes sense?

I know these are not *direct* comparison, but the tapisserie construction between 15400 and 15500 is similar enough to make this comparison.

Below are pics of white 15400 with gen dial vs fully stock apsf 15500

These first 2 pics are when the condition for the rep vs gen tapisserie dial looks the *most* similar

Now, these next 2 are when the condition for the rep vs gen dial tapisserie looks the *most* different

Wow, in the last you can really tell the difference.

That's exactly what I teach my children not to say.... By explaining to them that it doesn't demonstrate great intelligence. It's more polite to say I don't appreciate it or it's not in my taste. You're probably young. I hope I've helped you.
I'm certainly not young, and to make you aware just because you teach your children to behave in a certain manner doesn't make it right. In my opinion it is horrible, I don't appreciate it because it revolts me. I'm curious as to what way do you think you might have helped me?

Are you suggesting that you are more intelligent than me? On the basis you can't appreciate that I have an opinion that differs to yours? Interesting. 🤣

Edit to add: I've just realised you're probably hurting as you were so proud of your wee post and I'm the only one who bothered to answer.

I’m not a fan of KAWS but as you know such designs will be very polarizing. You either like it or you don’t. I personally do not. Thanks for sharing!

Guys let’s keep this Q&A thread clutter free. Neither of you know, or intend to harm the other. Don’t let words get in the way of learning and communication.

You may not like it. There are a lot of watches that I find ugly but never when someone likes them. I say it's horrible. It's a question of knowing how to live. At least that's how I was brought up. I only like vintage watches and I must have wandered into a part of the forum where I have nothing to do. I apologise for taking the liberty of starting a topic here.

Thanks for the post! Helps me get over the anxiety of reaching out to you. I recently saw an apsf 15500 and loved it but also loved the double balance wheel openworked which I believe isn't as accurate. What are you feelings on it or are there other more complex royal oaks that pass your visual tests.

Do the same recommendations apply to 15510?

What about offshore chronos are any done well? Which ones do you recommend?

When you look at a apsf 15500 what makes you know it isn't gen?

Btw totally agree with your insistence on attitude of the wearer. I took to reps after the pain of losing a gen Rolex. And then ofcourse the mania of bang for your buck and variety for your moods set in.

I tend to like complex watches but something about the apsf 15500 left all the ones I've owned or seen behind.

Thank you for your passion 💖

Where I need to be.
Hi I’ll try to answer you point by point

1. I am actually working on a 15407 (double balance wheel movement, cnc case and bezel, refinished movement) which I think is passable on the wrist in real life. Usually the AP complication reps are more flawed than the basic ones.

2. The 15510 reps have the wrong second hand and bracelet.

3. Offshore chronos based on the 7750 movement all come with the same flaws. I’ll advise you to wait because if they released the 4401 clone movement, then then the proper offshores could be just a short hop away.

4. I can tell the rep 15500 isn’t gen because of the dial and datewheel from the front and of course the movement and rotor from the back.

5. I agree that the 15500 is a good choice. Do consider the newly released 26240 too. They seem to be decently made.

26240 never really liked it cause somehow the chrono pushers seem out of form for the ap ro. 15407 I would be interested in getting if it's in the budget. I was told the biggest issue with apsf versions is how the tourbillon moves. Is that correct ?

What are you thoughts on the alyx or the frosted. Apsf makes both. Are they gen like and how's the look in real life. Alyx looks great in pics but is it as nice as the 15500 dial ?

One last question since you are such a legend. What draws you to ap's most. I just got my first rep roo and somehow it's what I now am drawn to most

The Alyx is a very nice watch for me, as it is plain and devoid of details. The entire watch is meant to be a statement of boldness and luxury. But such things are very subjective and this is how I interpret it.

For AP, what I identify with most of all is the very angular case and the way the watch is crafted. I love the masculine look of the watch and the finesse of the finish.

Have you had a chance to see the apsf alyx. Is it done well and close to gen?

Would love to know if the general consensus on the 15500 is APSF if right out the box or ZF?

Also is there any good 15510 or is it still incorrect?

Also is APSF the only one with the clone 26240?

First post on this forum, would appreciate everyone's help and make some new friends!

For 15500s out of the box, my first pick would be APSF black dial, then white, then gray, then blue.

Any idea why all the 15407 clones have too much space between the bezel and the case edge. It looks rather odd in pics and I'm wondering how noticeable it is on wrist.
