Zocker PMed me to try reducing the ring with the hand still attached to the pinion ring. It avoids the hassle of resoldering the hand, but is definitely harder to achieve a perfectly round pinion ring. Here is a rough draft, not fully finished, rough image:

The large hour wheel pinion on the movement cannot be reduced in diameter obviously. Also, the large dial hole has to remain. I slimmed the minute hand on this one above as well. Reasoning: If you are going through the trouble of slimming the hour, it makes sense to slim the minute as well, even if it is more difficult to do the minute than the hour. The gen has a slim minute hand as well.

May I ask what kind of tools you used? A dremel? Or old fashioned sand paper?
