To be fair even the tapisserie on that dial looks a bit weird as well. I never knew they made an early version dial (my friends boutique has had them in since release). It's a tiny detail of course and I never would have bothered personally with the swap but it was M2M and I wanted one.

Yes get the JF version. It is a stunning piece in person. But please make sure you put a 2 x AR crystal in there. It makes a world of difference trust me :)

Everybody talks about 2AR. I know it makes a difference, but I doubt it makes it look more gen like.. The gens also only have single AR. Even if the gen is better/ different to the JF one.

It definitely makes the watch crystal slightly clearer than gen, but it's a lot closer than the stock on most of these crystals, I'm not so sure about the 2015 JF's as they supposedly have decent AR, but the crystals on the Noobs and older JFs are quite a bit giveaway, in fact quite a few members have been called out because of the crystals.

But accuracy aside, it just makes the watch look so much better; I find myself constantly looking at my watch all day because the crystal is so clear, it's hypnotic. So I definitely think it's worth it, especially since it's a cheap mod in comparison to most others

You are not comparing oranges and oranges. The crystal from the Gen factory is of far superior quality than what the rep factories churn out. JF have made it better with their recent versions undoubtedly but there is a vast difference between a factory (JF, etc) crystal and one perhaps from Prof or Guru. I don't think it makes it more gen like per se but it quite literally brings the more intricate details of the dial to life. Having had the prof crystal in my 15400 and a guru in my 44mm there is no way I would have a stock crystal anymore.

Sorry for a dumb question, who are Guru or prof? I'm new in this and I'm planning on buying a AP but have no idea where to send it to do the crystal mod.

Guru is a modder in Europe who has 2X AR crystals. Profsteve is a guy here in the states who also has the crystals that fit AP and a few other brands too. You're in the US so Steve would be best for you. Just PM him and he'll tell you what you need to do.

Well said mate.

I wasn't too convinced about the double ARs at first myself, but once you get your hands on one there is no going back. It's hard to believe that something can be so clear. Really allows the dial to shine and all the accents that would otherwise be dulled by the reflection to stand out.

Guru, prof, steve and etc modders are similar to drug dealers... when you start getting some of their nice stuff, from there onwards every rep you get, you will want to send over to them again and again~

Guru jsut told me, that he doesnt do any more 2AR at the moment. Anybody has a suggestion where to get one in the EU?

Nobody else does AR in EU. the only guy with real good AR'd crystals is prof, but he is in the US.
But he also ship his crystals to the EU.
