Hi guys, just get into AP these past few weeks and fall in love with the quality. Just had one question before i buy another one. I wanted to buy ap forged carbon black 44mm, but i have to choice between noob or jf. while noob is being sold at 318 if im not mistaken and the jf is 698 from intime. So the question is
1. Is it worth 300 bucks and go with JF?
2. What is the flaw compare to gen?
3. What makes JF better than noob?

If you were me, will you go with 2 AP noob, or one JF forged carbon black 44mm.
Thanks for your help guys!
Cheers

I have the same question as you, I want to get my first AP and I'm reading a lot but it hard to make decision because many people recommend different stuff.

Also I'm scared that it seem AP need a lot of services and movement it not the best, I will follow these post and see what other recommend to make my decision also.

As far as im concern the movement is working pretty well if you using it on rotation with your other watch, not sure how it goes if we use it as a daily beater :/

And you know with 300$ price difference :s i can use it for other watch, or go with the best. If its really worth it. ill definitely go with JF

Get JF:
you avoid having to do 2XAR on crystal and cyclops.
Noob is only worth it if you have resources and are willing to modify.

In the context of 44mm FC

1: yes
2: date window positioning, dial finishing, movement, other very subtle differences not worth mentioning
3: finishing of the pushers, case, crystal Ar, movement deco, dial finish are better. Date window is in the wrong size in both. Noob has right size but has an elevated rim, JF is little smaller(subtle)

Im very happy with my JF FC in general but the number one flaw for me is the greenish tint of the numbers compared to the Noob which is whiter and closer to gen but a simple relume can fix this flaw.

I've got a JF with a Noob ceramic dial and 2 x AR crystal.

Get the JF as others have said

Does the JF 44mm have the newer JF crystals? I thought it was released just before they started coming out with their newer crystals

Can someone school me in the art of the cyclops mod? I have the Noob and would like to get rid of the blue AR. Where can I source a new cyclops? Or do I remove the AR from the Noob cyclops? Wouldn't mind doing it on a couple of 42s I have too.

Are the bargain clear out 44 FC Noobs still available…..I seriously doubt it...

If I didn't already have the 44's, solely for the huge saving it's a no brainer i'd be buying the Noobs

Hey bud, can you tell me where did you got the dial from?

Because the dial on the Noob is more accurate. The 12 o clock sub dial specifically, the markers are longer as per gen on the Noob dial vs the JF. However the JF is of better build quality. So the best of both basically.

I picked this up from a M2M, I'm not sure where he sourced the Noob dial.

Do you see anything of the build quality when it's build in the watch? What are the exact differences?

Both dials from Noob and JF are correct (it was discussed many times here). Gen has many variations...

I beg to differ. I've not seen a gen thus far with shortened markers (I've handled maybe 4 gens in my friends boutique). None of the gens I have seen on IG have shortened markers either.

It's bc the shorter markers were on the earliest versions of the FC dials which JF is imitating. From time to time AP makes subtitle changes and this was one of them.
