Anyone buy a TS vintage Rolex 5517 for $68

Look at the minute markers on the insert. The Gen had them all the way around. Get the proper insert and remove the pearl.

Looking at the side pics of the TS milsub, it doesn't appear to have the right bars. Looks like regular springbars with no lug holes.

It's really one of the 4 main distinguishing features of the model (welded bars, sword hands, circle-T tritium dial, and of course the 60 minute marker bezel insert).

I think I'd pay the extra to get one from another dealer with the permanent bars that show on the sides of the lug and the correct bezel insert (Trevor has it for >$100 IIRC).

Yes that's the one. You can see it has permanent bars in the 4th pic in that thread, the view from the crown side. They're a bit more obvious in some other dealers pics (of what I assume is the same case from the same factory).

If you age the pearl, this would be a pretty good beater.

How does one go about aging a pearl? I guess just ripping it out would be a quick and easy way of giving it an aged look.

I have several of Trevor's 5517s. They take gen crystals and bezel inserts. The lugs are drilled with solid bars.
