Why don't choice some 44mm?
I thimk 904 thickness still off isnt it?
I have the radiomir 1940 574, 575 and 677 due. All excellent for going under a cuff, just under 13 mm thick...
Bumping this thread instead to make a new one.
I was wondering if there's a 42mm alternative to the pam088 or 228? (I really love the look) but I doubt it will fit my wrist, 42 would be perfect.
Any hint would be warm welcome.
Thanks
Good day!
If speaking about an alternative, you mean panerai with gmt function in a 40 or 42mm steel case, then the options may be as follows:
The simplest solution would be Pam688 blue dial with gmt , steel, 42mm.
There were also old, not high quality pam244 models, it is 40mm, but the probability of finding them is not easy.
But, this is the only rep model that has a similar dial design to 088, while being smaller than 44mm.
There was also 42мм, a pam535 at 7750 with gmt, and a nice dial "clou de paris", but that is pretty rare these days.
If 088 or 244, this is primarily a bettarini case for you, then you should look for 40mm, and gmt and dial layout are secondary, these are pam048 and 049, which are also sold out long ago.
Thank you very much for the time you took.
Seems the 42/40mm altervative are way too hard to find i have to test drive a 44mm
Im gonna try to find one at a decent price.
I was about to give a go to the new VSF 088 but after reading the thread there's way too much issue with that release unfortunately.
Maybe H fac model is the good way to go?
You talk about a 244, this model has been repped?
I'm a complete beginner when it comes to Panerai world, sorry =)
244 was made by an n / n factory and had a lot of flaws. This cannot be compared with the quality to which we are accustomed, and it seems, in this regard, she was not so popular as to find her m2m ever.
If you want a similar dial design, the same case shape, that is, not 1950, then provided that you put up with 44mm, then there are many options, besides 088 (N or H is not that important) and 228 you can consider 237 (H only), 089 (H only) , 297 (can be H or N).
All of these models, although they have some differences in dials, markings, case materials and finishes, in general have a common layout and 24 hour GMT.
You can also consider 029/063, but they already have a decidedly different aesthetics.
I am always glad to be useful, good luck in choosing and searching!
