Hmmmmm...Terry knowledge is power...enjoy your trip...by the way mate, while we're being transparent, I never did get that SMP GMT with the broken crystal...you never did answer my pm's about it...any news? I didn't think it was worth rocking the boat about at the time, 'tis but a trifle to me...but somehow, this holier than thou, I know more than you attitude you suddenly seem to have developed jogged my memory...sad really, ex-mod with an axe to grind...methinks...;)

Very interesting indeed... I think that maybe these PM's may have been lost along with the other 500 or so that went bye bye when the servers crashed or whatever happened while I was gone. In any event, that truly is sad that the watch was lost. Send me a PM with your info and I will surely get a brand new replacement for you.

This is kinda like when Italian customs confiscated a $600 watch and I gave the buyer a FULL refund. Or when a $1200 watch was damaged in shipment (uninsured) and I gave a $500 refund.
Or the time that I bought a watch from someone for $300 and found out it was actually worth $1000 and offered to send the seller another $450 (which they gladly accepted).
Yeah, I am a real bad guy to deal with...

And yes, this is all about being an ex-mod with an axe to grind... Thats it really!!! Its the truth!!! Sconey got it right!

I like CBR, I think. I really can't remember. Did I ever insult you or anything like that?? Just wondering. Don't think we ever had words and I never heard anything bad about CBR, hes been he a long time. I probably missed some stuff.

I must have missed some stuff over the past few months as well. What happened?? Why all the PMSing?
T - I love you, man... but you really are coming off as being antagonistic solely for the sake of antagonism.
And why is anyone dredging up old sour deals they chose to let go at the time?
If someone could please explain the undercurrent of this passive-aggressive fued, I would really appreciate it. Otherwise, I vote we let sleeping dogs lie and move on to more constructive topics, like... oh, I don't know... maybe WATCHES?

I have a few more questions regarding the relations between this forum and the others:-

1) Although I am a member at repgeek, I do not frequent it and I've never been to RWG, are these other forums run/owned by the same people?

2) What are the main differences between RWI and the other two?

3) Why do I get the feeling, although obviously I've never bothered researching it properly, that members here believe RWI takes the moral high ground.

Thanks.

Allow me to answer that in a bit more detail.

There are in fact four main watch fora:

RWI: where you are now.

RWGroup: AKA RWGjnr, RWG2

RWG: AKA RWG1.1

RepGeek: or The Geek, Sparta etc.

There are also one or two smaller fora with less than 1000 members and an homage forum. It's a little involved as to how all these came about but suffice to say they (the big4) all originated from the original RWG which came from TRC (now a read only archive) with the exception of RepGeek which grew from the forum you are currently reading.

All are independent fora with different ownership. I happen to admin both RWG (co-admin) and RWI (CEO) but I think that is a unique situation. Whilst RWG and RWI work very closely together as a result of this they are two very different fora. Anyone behaving here as they do at RWG is in for a nasty shock for example, RWG being far more "wild west" than RWI.

All the fora talk and share info on scammers and trouble makers so any one scamming at say the Geek and being banned for his trouble is going to find himself banned everywhere. Severe troublemakers will find themselvs in the same barbed wire boat, up a well known creek without a paddle and nowhere to go!

All of the fora have their own style and alltho many folk are members at 2, 3 or all 4 of the fora they generaly find themselvs spending most of their time at the place they feel most comfortable. We the admin team try to ensure that is here for as many of you as we can. You are however invited to visit all of the fora ( RWG is especialy good if you like letting your hair down, don't go near section8 if nudity offends for instance) and see for yourself. We are confident you will soon be making your way back to what we consider the best forum in the whole of repdom, RWI.

To answer point 3: I have NFI mate because with the exception of RWG we are considered to be the most relaxed of the fora, thus the "DarkSide" moniker. While this is first and foremost a rep watch forum we all like a bit of fun every now and again and we are generaly more recptive to that than RWGroup or RG. Not that there is anything wrong with the way they chose to run their fora, it's simply different strokes for different folks. If you realy wanna run amok go next door to RWG but in reality we arn't run by People for a Decent America, Family First or Mary Whitehouse by any means. This is however primarily a US run and staffed forum so if you want Euro standerds as I said, go next door (RWG is Euro owned and run, you can say F*ck there). We try our best to provide a happy median that appeases the majority of our members most of whome are US based and thus a little more conservitive than the EU.

Rep fora or not, it's rare to see people who can talk about themselves with so much hindsight. For that, I thank you sir.

Actually I'm an Aussie and am invariably the one saying "guys, it's not that bad!" :)

However, RWI is not run for my amusement, it is run for the benefit of it's members so I need to draw a line somewhere that I and the other admin feel will accommodate the wishes of the majority of members and that, my friends, is not always easy or without controversy. All we can do is our best. I hope that our best is enough to make you the members want to spend time here. Got a problem? My PM, email and MSN are always open.

Email: trailboss99[at]replica-watch.info
MSN: wis[at]watchbitz.com.au

If it is that important to them I will send the member my mobile number and they can call me.

gun images are not violent, images of the damage they can do to flesh is another story and wouldn't be permitted.

I have to agree with my fellow countryman about pics of guns.

Where you americans puritan see sex in a pic of girl in panties with her hand inside, us peaceful europeans see damage to flesh, violence and horror when at look at a guns.

Panties were not made for sex, gun were made to kill!

But if I see pics of guns I won t cry to mummy!

But as some have said this is no democracy and admins do what they want in the best interest of the whole community.

Col reminded us that there are many other forum and when I feel censorship is too strong here I go to RWG1.1.
RWI had always been my home but I tend to spend more and more time at RWG1.1 where I have the fun I use to have at RWI.
I m sure Col will change it back to the way it use to be: A fun place where people do not take themselves too seriously.....Come on! Our hobby is to collect FAKE watches....for most people it cannot be serious!!!!

personally Im on the fence and have no problem with pics of women or guns, HOWEVER, I do understand other peoples view and reasons and am fine with that.

To echo the above European comments - gun's here are illegal and therefore, for us, mainly associated with violence or serious crime/ activities - so the association is different for us compared to the states.

Thanks to Boudart and advuk who managed to explain what I was trying to say with my poor English!

Cultural differences do exist, and where someoçne from the US might not see any problem with a pic of a gun, most people in the EU will think violence and crime when seeing the same pic. People have to remember that most of the european countries faced AT LEAST one war on their own soil (big difference) in the last 60 years.

That said, I totally understand why free speech do not exist on a forum.
Abritrary lines has to be drawn by the admins/mods, and if someone doesn't feel confortable with it, he can still go elsewhere.

What I'm trying to say id that yes, I'm bothered by gun pics, but if comment doesn't lead to gun pics beeing banned, it's up to me to decide if I can live with it or not.

In deference to our Euro members (and anyone else that is opposed to images of guns, regardless of nationality), I will happily change my avatar to one with no representation of a gun.

Afterall, it's just a picture...

Thanks for the detailed answer Trailboss. That gave me exactly what I wanted to know.

Regarding the issue of gun images that is being discussed, I personally am neither bothered by pictures of guns or ladies with hands down their pants but, There was a thread yesterday something like "my first handgun", I looked at it and I do think that if CBR's picture was to be removed then an equal case for the gun pictures not being allowed could be made.

However, as you have just informed me, this is primarily and American forum and without wanting to generalise, the perception of guns in America is obviously that they are acceptable whereas in Europe, the general consensus is guns are not acceptable.

And of course, the opposite applies to pictures of women with hands down their pants. I have never met anyone in England who would be offended by this picture, perhaps wouldn't want their kids to see it but not offended, whereas many would think a picture of a gun promotes violence and so is not acceptable.

But, primarily and American membership, primarily American rules makes sense.

Please understand me right: I don't consider gun pics should be banned just because I have a problem with gun pics.
I believe admins/mods do what they think is the best for the community, and if they disagree with me on this gun pics thing, then I could choose to leave, but as I want to stay, I have to live with it. I don't know if I'm being intelligible, my English is not as good as it used to be...

About your avatar, it is not a problem to me, as it is a picture from a movie. It's not "real" (the character could be holding a trout it would be the same). Do you see what I mean? Plus I would rather flagellate myself than having a pic of Walter Sobchak removed because of me ;)

This made me laugh out loud. All I can picture now is the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where the Knight Who Say Ni is holding up a herring. Not a Trout mind you but still funny :iph:

I now return you to your general discussion

gun pics don't bother me in the slightest ......pc game or cartoon images of guns even less .. the damage to human flesh caused by a gun or gun type weapons (well any weapon made to kill another man ) I don't like .... I to am middle aged well I may look it but don't feel it.
it was the INTERNATIONAL part of this place that made me stay after I found this place .. different cultures and beliefs all mixed in the one pot make a better tasting meal !..
we are all human ..... racism I cant stand it hurts me to the bone . im an atheist, but I do believe people should have the freedom to believe and have faith in what they want.
im a new member to the moderator team (sales only ) I only have control of the sales threads nothing else .but if a member PMS me with anything I cant deal with , I will make sure it goes to the proper person who will.
my avatar ........
CBR as far as know is the only person to complain about it ...
if people do find it offensive I will remove it or modify it .
as CBR says he is ex military , he must have been traumatised after seeing soilders wash and shower :biglaugh::biglaugh:.
Im ex military also (British), it didnt bother me seeing my fellow men clean themselves :biglaugh::biglaugh:..

its a fantastic world we all live in people , the more we interact the better it will be :band:....... keeping everybody happy will never happen
that's why I like this place and im happy to give my time to help it become a better place for all of us to enjoy talking about watches (as it boars the hell out a lot of people i know ) and to have fun like he grown men and woman we are :ahw:

I had no problem with your avatar Hooligan, or anyone elses.

Without taking this thread off on a tangent, regarding the quote below:

"People have to remember that most of the european countries faced AT LEAST one war on their own soil (big difference) in the last 60 years."

I went to Auschwitz in Poland as it is only a few hours from me here and I believe it is something that should be seen as Im so close - and thats a real eye opener. As I am sure the same for lines of graves of service men/ women and monuments do for people of the board across all of our countries.

So, some people have different associations with different things, some is personal, some is cultural.

Thanks for the responses, wizard and BOUDART. I know neither of you asked me to remove it. However, as a staff member I feel obligated to make the members' experience here as positive as it can be. I appreciate that neither of you are offended to the point of complaining by my old avatar, but that doesn't mean none of our membership is.

I'm happy to change it - it's not a big deal to me.

Oh, and wizard, no worries about your English, I understand you perfectly well. I'm quite certain your English is far better than my attempt would be to speak your mother language. :biglaugh:
