First up, the Illinois law looks like good lawmaking to me. It gives you rights to protect but it doesn't remove the rights of the other party.

I need to agree with Luth here, Bengazi stinks to high heaven and if you can't see that I feel sorry for you. Read what Pat (sfa437) has written next door, he has a far closer insight into the matter than we do and he's sickened. It's sad to watch a patriot such as Pat realise he can't trust his government to help him in a crises any longer. Oke, he's madder than most but he knows exactly what could have been done and wasn't.

We do here and believe it or not it's run by the government. We have a national broadcaster called the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) who's impartiality is enshrined in law. They still do opinion pieces (but not on the news show)but they are balanced to give an even perspective. That is to say everyone has a say from their POV at some point. Their current affairs show (four corners) has long been a bastion of responsible journalism in this country and stands head and shoulders about the pap that passes for current affairs on the commercial networks. The news on the ABC is just that, news. No agenda, commentary, polls, audience or other BS at all. Just news.

Now they don't always get it right but generally they do and when they don't there is an oversight committee to pull them up about it.

Unfortunately here in the US...along with the media being a propaganda arm OF the government...Voice of America...run BY the government...has just been allowed to broadcast propaganda inside the US as well.

The death toll by murder in Chicago over the past decade is greater than the number of American forces who have died in Afghanistan since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a police analysis.
In addition, police reports in Chicago – where President Obama once worked as a community organizer and where his former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, now serves as mayor – show most of the city’s massive murder mayhem is black-on-black crime.
A WND review of the Chicago Police Department Murder Analysis reports from 2003 to 2011 provides a statistical breakdown of the demographics of both the victims and offenders in the 4,265 murders in Chicago over that time period.
Of the victims of murder in Chicago from 2003 to 2011, an average of 77 percent had a prior arrest history, with a high of 79 percent of the 436 murdered in Chicago in 2010 having arrest histories.
For the same 2003-2011 period, blacks were the victims of 75 percent of 4,265 murders. Blacks also were the offenders in 75 percent of the murders.
In a city with some of the toughest gun control laws in America, where a handgun cannot be purchased, Fox News reported that Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy “acknowledged aiming at assault weapons misses the mark when dealing with Chicago’s gang violence.â€
“The weapon used is generally a handgun, and rarely is it purchased through legal channels,†he said.

Operation Enduring Freedom, the name for the war in Afghanistan, which started Oct. 7, 2001, has seen a total of 2,166 killed. The war has been ongoing for 11 years, 3 months and one week.

So, my liberal friends... where's your media outcry about THAT???

REDCELL that Voice of America propaganda comment is bullshit. My parents listened to Voice of America when they lived in Soviet Russia, it was one of the only glimpses of freedom that they had.

On the topic of Trayvon Martin. I'm 16, if I saw some weirdo following me in the middle of the night, and I felt that I had nowhere to go, I would have probably punched him in the face too. Let me tell you something else. A lot of people in high school smoke weed, that doesn't make them druggies or bad people, and they shouldn't be judged based on that. I think its better to judge people based on the fact that they were accused of molesting their cousin, got arrested for assaulting cops, called the cops 46 times about black males, didn't follow police operator instructions, and were wannabe cops with a daddy that was a judge.

On Benghazi, Luth, you brought up a gag order. I haven't read much about the gag order, so whether thats Fox News bullshit or not I don't know. What I do know, is that there was a CIA operation going on in Benghazi, which obviously was classified, that explains any possible gag order.

On Chicago,
Urban crime exists, it just happens to be worse in Chicago, and Chicago's murder rate is much smaller than it was earlier. You make Chicago out to be a gang-filled crap hole. It isn't a craphole, I've been there twice. The South Side sucks, but the rest of the city is a beautiful metropolis that is safe to walk at night in.

I appreciate that this thread is allowed to continue. I believe there is a place on any forum where those who are members, particularly those who spend a great deal of time here, are able to share thoughts related to controversial subjects. Heated discussions are healthy, as long as both parties are willing to consider the others positions with a modicum of respect.

You missed my point, mzcool. I was talking about liberal media silence. They scream, "Bloody murder!!!" when a white kill black, but when thousands of blacks killed by blacks - they're silent.
About Benghazi - gag order was about event on Sept. 11, 2012, not about what's going on there right now.
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/07/18/congressman-benghazi-survivors-forced-to-sign-non-disclosure-agreements/

Benghazi was a CIA operation when the attack happened, two CIA contractors died in the attack. You're source is Glenn Beck's website, not extremely reliable. Take a look at this. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-secret-cia-mission-in-benghazi-2013-5. The survivors were likely privy to sensitive info that could cause further unrest in the Middle East against Americans.

On Chicago, I do partially agree with you. The media in this country reports based on sensationalism, if you really want news, read local media. However, the Zimmerman case was significant because Zimmerman at first was not charged and that deserved some attention.

On VOA: Great! Glad VOA was there for you. But VOA IS US propaganda and as such does not belong here domestically.

On Martin: If you jump to physical attack...don't be surprised when you get shot.

On Shitcago: Shitcago? Don't get me started. The Gangs have spread far from the "South Side" of old. You got in and out twice? I wouldn't press my luck if I were you....

I can agree with you that it isn't intended to be broadcast here, but I think if people want to listen to it, they should be able to listen to it, considering their taxes pay for it.

You wouldn't feel like you need to defend yourself if someone was following you?

About Chicago, I don't know what you are on about, I've been to Chicago, *correction* 3 times, with week long stays. Downtown Chicago is beautiful, Michigan Ave, the Mag Mile, and even areas bordering the South Side are completely livable in. You can live in Chicago, and not go to any of the crappy parts and feel completely safe walking around at night, I was there last time in 2010, I doubt it suddenly became crap over 3 years. My brother used to live in Chicago, moving out because of a job offer and he still wants to move back there. Have you ever been to Chicago? Because it sounds like you are just repeating Republican soundbytes.

By Benghazi, I was referring to the Consulate, which was very close to a CIA annex that was also part of the attack, where the two contractors died. The CIA was heavily involved in Benghazi, and the survivors likely have classified info.

Redcell, I really don't know what part of Chicago you are going to that you feel this way. I spent a week in Chicago each time I visited, and I didn't just stay in my brother's condo, I ventured through many parts of Chicago, from Hyde Park to the Mag Mile, to Lincoln Park. Hyde Park was the only one of the mentioned areas that felt even remotely unsafe, and yet one of the world's best universities is located there. I recognize that a large part of Chicago is unsafe. Yet, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Anyone who wants to cry about Fox News regarding Benghazi just isn't paying attention to the facts.

C'mon guys the US Secretary of State and frontrunner for the 2016 US Presidency was excused from testimony in a Congressional Hearing after claiming to have "Fallen and Hit her head" the night before she was going to be questioned by Congress about the fact that she ignored more than one pleading attempt by a US Ambassador to have security beefed up at the US Embassy in Benghazi shortly before he was kidnapped and murdered. And this raised no eyebrows of the media.

So Hilary wasn't in the hospital for 3 days with a blood clot? Also, there was no kidnapping, he was murdered inside of the complex.

I think what happened was that he suffered from smoke inhalation in the complex, and locals found him and took him to the Benghazi hospital, and thats where he died or at least was pronounced dead.
