Just ordered 2 x CG jackets, one for myself and one for the mrs. Also a few sets of shoes and crocs for the kids, a few bracelets, some cufflinks and sunglasses. Let's see what shows upI will update with photos as they arrive but I don't expect that anytime soon due to CNY
Bought CG around $170 and wasn't very impressed, ended up just donating it. Did A lot of research and the reviews around the one I bought seemed excellent, though now I know it must be from people who have not owned a gen. Didn't think it was worth posting at the time, but the store is gone now anyways.
Comparing it to my gen the outside looked decent but the fur was absolutely terrible (it was supposed to not be removable but thank god it was!
). It was not fluffy and all, fell apart, and looked weirdly all one colour.The shape/stitching of the hood was off and made the hood sit oddly. The arms were a bit off, when you bend your arm the sleeve stays boxey around the pocket. Also the musty smell still had not gone away after 2 weeks.
The insulation factor of the rep was in my opinion about half of what the gen was, with the inside of the jacket material being an almost plastic feel, the gen is like a shell material but soft. In North America it was -30 (or colder) a few days with a lot of snow and I had tested out both jackets. While it was water repellant I was frozen, and the fur of the jacket got destroyed. Perhaps I should have opened up the jacket before getting rid of it to see what type of down it was. Can't imagine how it would hold up in rain (seems like a lot of ppl in the UK).
I'm still on the lookout for a decent rep I can wear instead of the gen at places like the dog park but am thinking that what is offered is not there yet in terms of quality. Maybe by next year they will have improved.
