I'm sorry guy but I have to TOTALLY disagree with you all...
What is a 318?
It's a Special Edition of 150...
It's also a modified 005... without COSC certification.
...But its original retail price was cheaper than the 005
Conclusion: It was a bargain.
When a new SE is out, it's often very similar to an existing model but at least 25% more expensive...
If it had come with any of the following movements, nobody would have written anything on it.
But the above movements are exactly the same has the following movement (except for 2 minutes timetaking engraving):
Which is exactly the same as the movement found in the 318 (+120$ because it's nicer...lol)
Come on guys.... wake up!
People need to make profit.
I used to have a Gen 177 that was stolen at my house last month, and as soon as I get the money back from insurance I'm going to buy it back. I'm also a proud owner of a rep 177M V2 with platinium treatment on the bridge. The difference between the 2 watches are tiny and definetly not worth the 30X price tag.
Some of you have been in this rep collecting thing for almost 10 years, this is not new...
A gen 177 should not sell for that amount of money (as any other gen BTW, including Seiko, Citizen, etc...).
Economic laws states:
Price rises when demand rises and supply are low.
Price drops when demand drops and supply are high.
Panerai has been almost unable to supply the demand for the last 10 years, victim of their success.
What would you do if you were the Boss there?
On the other hand I love Panerai watch as many other here and elsewhere, I'm very glad that the company makes shitload of money, that they keep building new watches, that they makes new movement, that they maintain employment (probably recruiting as we speak), that they treat their people well, etc...
And I'm ready to pay extra for it. If every one would buy a rep pam and no one would buy gen all this will stop.
If Panerai were selling watch for 1K, would they be repped and would they get this much love?
