That confirms my theory that Panerai is the most overpriced brand using the simplest pieces and cheap ass movements to rip off it's customers.

But the good thing about them is that's what makes them so much easier to replicate to a very high standard and sell excellent copies for less than $500.

This is what I've always said about Panerai, sure their movements are nicely decorated, but that doesn't mean it's not just a decorated $150 movement, their in-house movements are nice but the older ones just had nice 6497's and that's about it. Heck, the PAM community at that site is so hooked on the brand that Panerai could paint a $1 log with their logo and sell it like hotcakes at $5,000 a piece.

Funny how the rep has a much nicer movement inside. Between reps and gen, reps win over in the hand-wind department.

Very shady on Panerai's part. That movement looks like sh**; heck it's worse than the ones in $100 Panerai reps!

I did ask for this to get moved to the right forum, but hey, you guys seem to be happy with it in here :)

Ignoring your requests makes our job easier. :)

Just kidding, hadn't seen your request or the place it was. BUT you do get points for stealth.

How can you justify buying one of these knowing it's a 300 watch? WOW

Even the rep makers put a Gen Swiss in this thing and thought it looked wrong. They put movement plates on! The rep is better than the Gen! A true first! LET's PARTY!!!!! :biglaugh:

How sad is it for a brand that the old "open the watch to see if it's a rep" only applies if it goes "the one with the good looking decorated movement is a rep". lol Panerai, it fails... a lot.

This thread should be a sticky and an automatic response to any future "why buy reps?" questions! I'm stunned at that movement....

the asian mvt in my 318 is'nt as ugly as that one right there, but I'm quite sure that the swiss one is wayy smoother than my asian mvt. I might go gen like and slap a basic swiss " gen style ;) " in it....

And to think people stress about the slight tells in the rep movement used in the rep 111's and 177's etc..

Worry no more folks!
