I opened mine yesterday and I was really impressed from the movement.

Between this and the 3KF Nautilus - the amount of 3KF 'fanboys' for pretty average attempts is quite worrying. 3KF straps are utter garbage so anyone that says it compares to gen - either doesn't have a gen or has been sold a 'gen' that's a DHgate tier rep.

I've outlined my thoughts on the Nautilus thread on that particular offering, however with regards to the Aquanaut I have to agree with LuminorReptar. OOTB with no mods ZF is probably the best offering, as everything is at least a solid 7/10.

I mean come on guys - no one looks at the back of your watch and the obsession for clone movements I've never really understood on this forum. 3KF can't even get the shitty dial printing in the centre of the box and give you an awful DW.

At least KMF offer some excellent dial print, nice colours, a fantastic clasp and a great strap albeit let down by some markers.

However ZF Aquanaut at a push maybe NWBIG, the rest of them? NO CHANCE.

I can confirm the strap is really bad quality...
But the movement is awesome...

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I love the obsessive attention to detail here!

I was just about to order the 3KF but now it's been pointed out, I can't live with the fat bezel. It's really noticeable in the picture just above, destroying the beautiful proportions of Gerald Genta.
So, I'm back to considering ZF, but not sure about the thicker case of the ZF! arrggghhhhh, happily frustrated!

I would just go with 3k, and get a ZF strap
The strap is such a minor issue when it’s all said and done
the only pictures/posts I’ve seen where the bezel looks that much bigger is from luminor. I have a RG otw and can give you my honest opinion as I have my own pics of the gen from local.
At the end of the day totally up to you

Maybe buy a gen strap? Is Patek as annoying as Rolex? Getting a spare Oysterflex is like you have to prove beyond reasonable doubt you actually own a Rolex which uses an Oysterflex.

Not at all. Check eBay or chrono24 I’ve seen a bunch for $200-250
C09 is what you want, but just search aquanaut strap

They are much nicer quality but do not fit 3K case perfectly.

From all my QC pics the bezel looked completely fine

Absolute nonsense to talk about „gentas proportions“ when you refer to a 2° wider angle of the bevel on the bezel while gentas original nautilus had a completely different bezel than the modern ones let alone the difference in appearance of the native aquanaut which was inspired but not designed by him.

Thank you for quoting this review. If you wasn't quoting it, I would not know it was here somewhere in this thread. I agree that the quoted review deserves at least equal attention to does Tim's review on this 3K Aquanaut. Given so many good OOTB options in the market right now, it is definitely good for us to get technical and review like how people review their OOTB Hulks and Daytonas.

I just received my Aquanaut 3K QC pics, could you give me your thoughts on them ?

- First the 12 seems not to be perfectly centered (1 too much on the left)
- Also in the bottom of the case I see something (bump?) most likely just a reflection but tell me your thoughts about it ?
