That is the noob sub that is on the RWI list. The biggest issue on it is what they list prominently in the listing at the top:

"This case is copied 1:1 from the Ceramic GMT - Same for the 2008 Submariner and Ceramic GMT (As shown in Basel 2008)"

The Sub does not have the same case as the GMT. The sub case is beefier, thicker case back, larger lugs, and larger crown guards. Other than that and the large hour hand, pearl, and markers it is a great watch and very close to gen.

Would love to see RO1320 available as a black sub. Would save me a bunch of work!

this is a great mod but tbh i wouldn't bother with a gen tube and crown personally. when you can tel its a rep by just looking at the dial. the ceramic sub is a great rep as i have one. and when they sort the dial im going to mod it but until then im happy as is.

I dunno, I'm looking at the finished product with the noob dial and without having a gen and the rep sitting right in front of me I can't pick the differences?

Hey, is it going to make a big difference having the crystal and cyclops double AR coated?

Is Timeshop the only dealer which supplies the Green bezel Ceramic Sub with the correct case and hour hand?

There's another one coming. So far I have:

* Stripped both watches. Bezels cleaned
* Constructed the bracelet
* Got the movement out and having it serviced
* Re finished the sanded edge under the bezel and over the crown, rep finish was awful.
* Chieftang is doing a January AR run, so am going to strip cyclops from crystal and get 'em done.
* Got the dial stripped, ready for drilling.
* Lume buckets and hands soaking in thinners for stripping.

I suspect the hard work is ahead of me! :lolcina:

Hey, I can't seem to get the crown from the noob to fit the LV.

Do I need to change the crown tube as well? The noob has a way bigger OD on the crown tube, and the part that holds the adjuster won't fit through the LV crown tube either.

Didn't really want to go fitting a gen crown, as the noob one is close enough, looks like I might not have a choice.

The crowns will not swap without swapping tubes. I just dug into my bag of rep crowns to find one that fit.

I can't see anyone but a modder wanting to do this for profit, and I wouldn't sell the finished product as it's too much work!

Thanks! Is there a non destructive way to remove the crown tubes? And are they pressed in, or screwed?

I've told a couple of folks who have asked, I'd be happy to build one, but it's not going to be cheap (not crazy expensive either). Basically it'll cost you two parts watches plus a few incidentals plus labor.

Just wanted to add my congrats to DA!

Absolutely awsome work. I can only imagine the time and effort you've spent on that pearl. It has to go down as one of the best mods seen. Well done sir, and if you ever want to start selling these pearls, I suspect you'll have a fair few orders for them.

Quick question: the SA3135 SubC's that Puretime sells, GMT case or correct case? I noticed it the crown height looks right (I guess due to the new movement) but I'm untrained enough to know about the rest of the case just yet...

Alex....you've been holding out on me Brother. I know you mentioned to "go have a look at my Sub-C build Thread"...but dammit man...that's AWESOME. And that pearl build....now I know what you meant. I stand up and applaud you, my man. That is a huge display of passion and talent. BRAVO !!!

Technically, yes. They're screwed in.

Practically, many rep tubes are trashed once they're removed once. Gen tubes have splines on the inside, and can usually be reused if you're gentle/careful.

This should be a sticky. The 116610 is going nowhere and this is a very good jump off point for all others. :)
