This is the one prize from the Bush Fire Fundraiser that actualy passed thru my hands so I thought I had better do a review of it.

Stan told me before it arrived these are a very good product but that did not do this justice. These are a very high quality piece indeed.

The box set is very well done. The wallet comes packed in a good copy of the MB box and wrapped in a plastic sleve and MB paper. Even the plastic has a MB stock lable on it.

Picture005.jpg

Inside is nicely finushed. The stiching is close and straight, the lineing is the correct branded fabric. The insert card is correct for a gen sold in China as are the stock stickers on the packeging. The card even has "Printed in Germany" on it.

Picture006.jpg

Outside is as good as the inside, perfect. All embosing is clear and even, stiching is A1 and the MB emblem is as good as the gen. The leather is soft and of very nice, even grain. Not cheap crap at all. In fact this whole wallet is so good I suspect there may be some leakege out the back door of MB's CN factory. If it's not a back door gen it's just as good. Realy.

To sum up, this is a first rate rep and a high quality product that you can use anywhere without fear of being called out. No one is going to know it's a rep.
WBK's shipping lived up to his reputation. It was here in five days via airmail. It was well packed with bubble wrap enshureing that the box still looked brand new after surviving the postal systems of twp countries. I can recomend WBK to anyone wanting a nice wallet. Drop him a PM and he'll find what you want.

Re: Mont Blanc Men's Wallet.

It may not be a rep. Like a lot of Euro companies MB make goods in CN for the local market. I chked the markings on this and the stock tags etc are correct for the local market. It is possible that these are a CN made gen passed out the back door of the factory. Who can tell? Stranger things happen in China!
If it's not a localy produced gen it's as good as the real thing so it's a moot point realy.

I agree on that. I got a Dior and and Cloe bags for my wife ones and they must have come out of the backdoor.
We compared with the original bags and tags, no difference.
Another thought was that they run ones a week a night shift and keep the stuff to sell it privately to other channels.

absolutely true. i've got North Face and Mountain Hardwear technical gear and clothing from CN that is the real stuff (i would know) and it cost me a mere fraction of the very high cost of retail. they definitely backdoor stuff, IF you know how to sift thru the cheap rep suppliers and find the gen.

Dude. Please tell me you don't think you could possibly get called out on a wallet that is in your pocket. :p

In order to spend money you have to pull it out sometime don't you? Some of the reps I'v seen are just so obvious even at a glance that anyone owning the real thing would know. If you work in an enviroment with folk who own gens you don't wear your $108 Steel Fish to work neither should you carry a crappy rep wallet.

Wow. You know I have a $500 wallet. It is ridiculous pricing for a leather good but it was given to me. No one has ever asked me about it. I believe if I went to my local haunts and asked anyone to tell me what COLOR my wallet is or if I even carry one they wouldn't know. Actually that's a good idea. I should screw with them and ask them to guess what color my money clip is. Gold or Silver.

I have a gen. Montblanc billfold and it has gone through a heck of alot of abuse, and it ends up looking better and better. It fairs much better than my gen. Dunhill billfold. Just watch out for the plastic window for pictures. That gets scratched and faded over time due to abuse. But that is an easy fix.
